🧴 Wellness Wednesday: Time for a Cleanout?
Mascara, eye drops, and even contact lens cases don’t last forever—and using expired or contaminated products around your eyes can lead to irritation or infection.
💡 General rule of thumb: Toss mascara after 3 months and change contact cases every 1–3 months. Eye drops vary—preservative-free ones are single use, while others typically last up to 3 months after opening.

When in doubt, throw it out. Your eyes will thank you!

👁️ Amsler Grids Are Handy—But Eye Exams Are Even Better

Amsler grids are a good at-home tool for spotting early changes in your vision—especially when it comes to conditions like macular degeneration.
To use it, just cover one eye, focus on the center dot, and check for any wavy, blurry, or missing lines—these can be warning signs of vision changes.

While Amsler grids can be useful, nothing beats a comprehensive eye exam. Your doctor can detect issues before symptoms show up, helping protect and preserve your sight.
Today is a good day to schedule an eye exam to check on your vision, so give us a call!

Fireworks are a blast—literally—but they can also be risky for your eyes if you’re not careful. This Fourth of July avoid eye injuries by following these simple tips:

- Stay back! Give yourself plenty of distance from anything that pops or sparks
- Keep a close eye on the kids (especially if they're playing with sparklers)
- If you’re lighting fireworks, wear protective eyewear

Enjoy the food, the fun, and the fireworks—and take care of your eyes while you're at it. Happy 4th from all of us at Premier Eye Care!

💦 Summer Wellness Wednesday: Hydrate Inside & Out

We love everything summer brings—sunshine, warm weather, and time outdoors—but it can also lead to dry, irritated eyes.
Hydration plays a big role in eye comfort. Make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day, and consider using preservative-free artificial tears if your eyes feel gritty or tired.
Still feeling discomfort? We’re just a call away and happy to help you explore other options for relief—so you can enjoy your summer to the fullest.

👁️ Glaucoma can sneak in silently. Frequent eye exams help catch changes early and protect your vision. Click to learn why staying on schedule matters!

Glaucoma is often called the "silent thief of sight" for a good reason. Because it frequently has no symptoms in its earliest stages, studies suggest that over half of individuals with glaucoma are unaware they have the condition until it starts to impair their vision.

Ever disagreed with someone about the color of something? That might be due to color blindness—a condition that affects how your eyes perceive color.

Our ability to see color comes from specialized cells in the eye called cones. When these cones don’t function properly, it can lead to difficulty distinguishing between certain colors. Most people with color blindness are born with it, and it’s usually genetic. The most common type? Difficulty telling red from green!

While there’s no cure, the good news is most people adapt easily—and, in some cases, special lenses can help.

👋 Curious about how your eyes see the world? We’re here to help you better understand your vision and make sure you’re seeing life as clearly as possible.
