Farmers, veterans, seniors, and small business owners across this country are counting on our lawmakers to make the right call. The h**p industry supports more than 350,000 jobs nationwide, provides relief for veterans and seniors who rely on h**p-derived products, and sustains rural communities that depend on being able to sell this year's crops.

Idaho deserves better than reactionary governance.

A fast-tracked bill in the House Agriculture Committee would effectively eliminate Idaho’s lawful h**p industry; an industry operating under statutes previously adopted by this legislature and aligned with federal law.

Families and small businesses relied on those laws in good faith. They obtained licenses. They complied with regulatory oversight. They invested in inventory, property, employees, and community partnerships based on the stability of Idaho statute.

Now, with little deliberation, that framework is being dismantled under a so-called "emergency order".

Conservative governance is rooted in the rule of law, predictable regulation, and protection of lawful commerce. It is not rooted in abrupt policy reversals that destabilize families and undermine reliance on existing statute.

If stronger regulation is needed, regulate. If standards need tightening, tighten them. But erasing lawful enterprise overnight raises serious concerns about due process, economic fairness, and respect for property rights.

Idaho’s Constitution protects the right to acquire, possess, and protect property. It protects citizens from arbitrary government action. It expects deliberation as a standard.

This decision impacts farmers, retailers, employees, veterans, and families across our state.

If you believe in limited government and constitutional restraint, now is the time to speak.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?
You've probably learned about systems like the cardiovascular system that pumps your blood, or the nervous system that sends signals through your body - but there is another system quietly working around the clock that most people have never heard of: the endocannabinoid system (ECS).
Discovered in the 1990s, the ECS is like your body's internal "master regulator." Indica vs Sativa needs an update. People ran with “Indica puts you down, Sativa picks you up” for years. Dispensaries pushed that hard because it was what they knew at the time. Then terps started to be what all the budtenders were talking about, which helped a little, but still doesn’t tell the whole story. Now new science is showing that volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) play a major role. That loud, gassy hit you get from OG Kush or the citrus rind blast you get from Tangie? That’s probably them. They might actually shape the high more than terps do.
Indica and Sativa were visual categories at first. Back in the 1700s when botanists were first cataloging cannabis, they were just going off how the plant looked. Tall and narrow vs short and bushy. They did make some notes on effects, but more or less the level of psycho-activity. Kinda wild we’re still running on 300-year-old mantras like plant shape tells the whole story. I’ve smoked plenty of “sativas” that were supposed to be clear and uplifting. Two hits later I’m melted into the couch.
