How much sunscreen is enough to protect you? More than you think.

Most people do not use the proper amount of sunscreen. Average sized adults and children need at least one ounce (think shot glass) to evenly cover your entire body, head to toe. If you spend a significant amount of time in the sun, a 16 oz. bottle won't last very long. If you are still using a bottle from last year, you may not be using enough.

Sunscreen doesn't last forever. The sun-protecting chemicals break down over time. Check the expiration date to make sure your sunscreen will still be effective. Sunscreen also degrades faster when exposed to prolonged heat. Hot cars and prolonged direct sunlight are not good for sunscreen. When outside, keep it in the shade or wrap in a towel to keep it at peak effectiveness.

Remember to apply and wait 15 minutes for maximum protection.

Do you know why your sunscreen says "apply 15 minutes before sun exposure"?

Modern sunscreens use chemicals to protect you from the sun. These chemicals act like sponges and absorb dangerous radiation. 15 minutes is the time required for the skin cells to metabolize the chemicals and offer maximum protection.

Applying sunscreen in direct sun or just before sun exposure reduces its effectiveness. The radiation starts breaking down the chemicals before they have a chance to protect you. Less active ingredients means less protection. Less protection means sunburn and skin damage.

Be nice to your skin. Apply your sunscreen and wait 15.

Another things he loves is the people.”Each individual is unique and fun to get to know.
