In a conversation today about some of the thorns in life we took a moment to reflect on the good, the things that we were grateful for. Both the thorns and the roses are part of life. I might not always be grateful for the thorns but I am grateful that thorns have roses.
In the healing process sometimes the thorns are the focus and by acknowledging the thorns maybe we a deeper appreciation for the roses.

This my friends is why healing the nervous system is so important. When fight, flight or freeze is activated social engagement is incredibly difficult. Heal the nervous system by activating the vagus nerve.
1. Sing your heart out.
2. Hum
3. 3 mins of slow belly breaths
4. Splash cold 🥶 water on your face
5. Vagus reset pose.

This image puts words to the experience that many people have. When we carry around unprocessed trauma and then we experience difficult situations, loss, and stress it becomes so heavy that any minor inconvenience feels like a huge tragedy. Then our mind tells us we are over reacting to the minor inconvenience. In reality it is a reaction to the weight of all you have been carrying.
This is a reminder to practice self-compassion. Be gentle with your self, recognizing what is happening and do something that is restorative.
