📅 Why does the pregnancy wheel start with your last period?

The pregnancy predictor wheel uses the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) because it’s often the only date most women know for sure. Even though conception usually happens about two weeks later, using the LMP gives doctors and nurses a standard starting point to estimate:

How far along you may be

An approximate due date

Key pregnancy milestones

Once an ultrasound is available, it becomes the more accurate way to confirm pregnancy dating. Ultrasounds can measure the baby’s size, detect a heartbeat, and confirm pregnancy location—helping provide a clearer and more reliable timeline.
