Meet Conner

In the world of funeral directors, Conner Whitwell brings a breath of fresh air. Conner has swiftly transitioned from auto parts to navigating the delicate intricacies of funeral services to licensed funeral director.

Conner’s role since joining Buck-Murphy has seen him in various aspects; from consoling families to the meticulous preparation work behind the scenes. His mantra is, “Make everyone’s job a little easier.” He does this with a laid-back, drama free style that’s refreshing. He aims to continually refine his skills and ensuring each family receives nothing but the best of his abilities.

Some of Conner’s proudest moments include receiving heartfelt thanks from families, affirming that his transition to the funeral industry was a step in the right direction. Armed with an associate’s degree in Mortuary Science and having conquered the national board exams, we are proud to announce that Conner is now a licensed funeral director!

Outside the funeral home, Conner is a man of diverse passions. He’s a family guy at heart, enjoying quality time outdoors. You might find him on a dirt bike, practicing Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, or unwinding with a good movie. These hobbies not only keep him grounded but adds a unique perspective to his work.

Meet Josh

Josh started his journey with us in 2019 as a funeral attendant. With a background as an IT specialist in various companies, he discovered his talent is more than just bits and bytes but providing compassionate, professional care. While he has a knack for computers and ensuring our network never meets an untimely end, he has also obtained his mortuary apprenticeship license and is not only on his way to becoming a fully-fledged mortician but is our general manager. He is really proud of these achievements as they mark a significant step in his career path in the mortuary industry.

Josh enjoys a good laugh, believing that a bit of humor goes a long way- especially in our line of work. His unique blend of skills makes him an indispensable part of our team.

Meet our weekend professional, Jeff.

We are very fortunate to have Jeff with us. He recently joined us and brings a wealth of experience with him. He has previously worked in St George, Las Vegas, and Casper. Jeff will be happy to meet with you to discuss your needs or even direct services if that is most convenient for you and your family.

Jeff fell into the funeral business by accident. He was a deputy sheriff in Utah and had a friend that owned a mortuary that needed a little help. To pick up a little extra money, he started helping out and found that it was a much more satisfying and fulfilling job than as a peace officer. Helping families in their greatest time of need is his passion and it shows in his demeanor.

When Jeff is not working, he attends church at his LDS chapel, likes to spend time gardening, on his boat, hunting, camping, and fishing with his wife Caren and dog, Red.

We are the only mortuary that has a therapy dog on staff. Meet Buddy!

Buddy is a two year old Corgi that is a grief support specialist that has been with us since 2022. He was originally trained as a therapy dog, but he knew his calling was in providing comfort during life’s most challenging moments. Don’t let his small stature, big ears fool you. He has a huge heart that makes him the ideal canine for those navigating the complexities of grief.

Buddy is a full time charmer and has an extraordinary gift to sense emotions. He instinctively knows how to calm someone and lighten the mood be it a gentle nuzzle to our guests or a joyful bark that puts a smile on their face. His calm demeanor knows how to bring a moment of peace in a tumultuous storm of emotions and is a balm for aching hearts, offering a silent understanding that words often fail to convey. He can turn somber moments into ones filled with gentle warmth and subtle smiles.

Buddy may be small in size, but his impact on our funeral home and the families we serve is immense. He’s more than just a pet; he’s a furry beacon of joy and love, reminding us all that even in grief, there can be moments of joy and comfort.

When Buddy isn’t working, his hobbies include chasing his tail, dreaming of endless treats, and, of course, snuggling.
