Quick cancer in my lip update: surgery day! This picture Is a little graphic but it’s the reality of what our immune suppression can do to our bodies. I’m grateful my meds are working to keep my lungs happy and cancer process their doing this job as well. . I’m waiting on a plastic surgeon to fix it all up. I’ll post another update as it heals.

We are having a beautiful early spring. I’ve been able to go out and play with my horses a few times.

* my lip cancer is scheduled for MOHS surgery on April 21st and the plastic surgeon will get it closed up (and looking beautiful) that same day.

*We will be in Pittsburgh in May for my annual follow up. I will be 18 years 6 months post transplant. Hopefully my lip will be healed up by the time we have to travel.

Enjoy some pics of my little pug and my fat horse Stardust 😊 I can’t believe she’s 4 this year. She is taller than me and is standing at 15hh and could still grow 😭 anyone know how to train her to lay down so I can get on her? 🤪

My PFT’s are steady and I’ve been feeling great.

I hate it when I’m right…. But biopsy results are in and it Is CANCER. I’ll need MOHS surgery and then a plastic surgeon will hopefully fix it up nicely. At least I know my immune suppressants are working- skin cancer is better than dealing with rejection 🤪 maybe I can request the plastic surgeon to give me Angelina Jolene lips 👄

Quick lip cancer follow up… my upper lip had healed up pretty nice (hopefully it stays that way. The bottom lip however didn't not fully heal and it might require MOHS surgery. I see my dermatologist tomorrow.

Yes I am as miserable as I look in that photo. Here’s a glimpse into the non-glamorous side of living 18 years post transplant…. Skin cancer. The immune suppressants cause a lot of side effects but the skin cancers on my scalp and face and lips 👄 are definitely not fun at all. I’m hoping this latest treatment of my “cancer cream” takes care of these spots because I really don’t want to have to have them surgically removed. Ugh. But on a brighter note, my lung function is up and stable- yay!!

Another Christmas season has arrived, and I feel grateful to spend it with my family and pets. I feel compelled to acknowledge the organ donor who gave me a second chance at life. Despite the passing of 18 years, I still know very little about this extraordinary person. I am aware, however, that her family likely thinks of her fondly during this time of year. I offer them my warmest wishes and love. Organ donors are indeed heroes, and their selfless actions inspire us all. I urge everyone to consider registering as an organ donor, as this decision can be a lifesaver for someone in need.

I will never forget the miracle that God performed in my life when He gave me a second chance through my Donor Angel. Eighteen years have passed since I started my double lung transplant journey in Pittsburgh. Eighteen years ago we got on a plane loaded with multiple oxygen tanks and we headed across the country 2000 miles away as in hopes for a double lung transplant. I am still in awe of God's goodness and love. His presence in my life is a constant reminder that He hears us, knows us, and blesses us.

Today is world Transplant Day…and it also happened to be the same day we are seeing Andy Grammer - I took my movie “Five Feet Apart” and had him sign it. My husband is pretty incredible for getting me meet and greet to the concert.

My hair is growing back nicely. I finally got it long enough to go blonde again 😊 I’ve been really lucky to have stayed away from any illness this winter and I’m looking forward to spring which is right aroundthe corner.
