Early July growing season!!! Lots happening here in East TN. 💚 the are morphing into , are producing seeds, are maturing and ready to eat, harvesting, onions, and garlic. are tasty, and thornless are almost ready to eat. 💚

I’m partially observing “No Mow May”. That’s when you don’t mow your lawn to allow the pollinators to have more to choose from. I *had* to mow on the 15th because I’m doing my best to keep biting insects at bay. But I left stands of wildflowers, which are quite lovely. Little islands of flowers throughout the yard! These flowers are called Oxeye daisies. 🌼 Purty, right? 💚

DeKay’s brown snake - I unknowingly scooped it up from my wood-chip pile. I first noticed this creature in my wagon as I was laying out wood-chips. It’s about 10-12 inches long. I learned they feed on slugs and earthworms. A harmless snake doing its thing until I disrupted it. 😱 I placed it in the yard and I went about my chores. It made me wonder how many times I come across critters in the yard that I’m completely unaware of. 🤪 the snake was very docile and wanted nothing to do with me. They like dark, damp places, which explains why it was in my wood chip pile. 🐍💚 💯
