What is Orthognathic Surgery?

Orthognathic surgery, also known as corrective jaw surgery or a maxillary osteotomy, is a procedure performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to reposition the upper jaw (maxilla) and correct severe jaw misalignments, structural abnormalities, and functional concerns. This surgery can help correct underbites, overbites, open bites, facial asymmetry, and improve both function and overall facial balance.
