Headache from occipital muscle
Forward head posture increases the workload for many of the muscles attached to the cervical spine, which has the job of holding up the head. Over time, forward head posture can lead to muscle imbalances as the body tries to adapt and find efficient ways to hold the head up for straight-ahead vision. Some muscles become elongated and weakened, whereas other muscles become shorter and tighter.
Muscles That Become Long and Weakened
- Deep cervical flexors.
- Erector spinae.
- Shoulder blade retractors.
* Strengthening Exercise*
Muscles That Become Short and Tightened
- Suboccipital muscles.
- Chest muscles.
- Levator scapulae muscles.
*Massage & Stretching exercise*
Suboccipital muscles.
If this muscle tight and contract all the times can cause Headache
How to treat ?
- Use hot pack compress on the neck and upper back.
- Massage the neck and use thumb needing on suboccipital muscle until the muscle relax.
- Stretching neck muscle and suboccipital muscle.
- After that we do Strengthening Exercise for Weakening part.
- Head massage a few times.
