About 8 weeks ago this pretty thing started being spotted at the barn, starved for fold. No one claimed it and it kept hanging around so we set a live trap.
He/she is at the vet getting spayed/ neutered today and vaccinated.

This cat is feral and a flight risk, but has been in a large dog crate the last 12 ish days. Would anyone want to give it a quiet dog free indoor home??

This week's "Horse of the Week is.... JAKE

Q. Hey Jake, I see you are the horse of the week.. tell us, how you met the fine folks at Black Star..

A. Well, I was born and raised in the hills of WV, and I spent a great 13 years on a beautiful farm.. and my owners decided it would be great to train me.. I was super excited to participate, so excited that they ended up wanting to "consult a professional"

Q. How big an ol' boy are ya ?

A. 15 + hands...whatever that means

Q. What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment at Black Star?

A. Well, for a little bit I was SOOO brave... but then stuff got sketchy, other horses here said my teacher was an "arena skiing champion, to which I said "you ain't seen nothing yet..."..then I got "tik tok famous" after taking him on a tour of his own arena...

Q. So what happened after that?!

A. I learned the "under saddle" stuff isn't so bad.. and Craig may be a contender as my BFF.

Q. What's your plan from here?

A. To teach my hoomans the Gospel of Black Star, and I can't wait to see Maverick in the Spring of 2026 and teach him he is still just a child!

Q. Do you answer to any other names?
A. 🎵 Jake, Jacob , Ni**od, Schmitt, his name is my name too...🎵

We are going to start featuring a horse of the week. This week it's Clyde, and we did a short questionnaire to help our followers learn about him..

Q- What's your name?
A- Clyde

Q- Do you have a nickname?
A- Clyde, put that down and stop it!

Q- How old are you?
A- I just a baby (2 yrs)

Q- What's your favorite thing to do here??
A- Play "got your nose" and "Cops and Robbers" with Maverick.

Q- What's your least favorite thing here?
A- When Craig Shaffer tries to flyspray me.. I don't need that stinky smelling stuff, my poo- cologne is JUST FINE!!

Q- How did you end up at Black Star?
A- Because my mamma said I need to learn some manners 🙄🧐... just because I don't want to let that farrier tickle my feet OR wear a horse eating blanket...

A- 16 hands and a size 81 blanket at age 2!

A- Well, my mamma Max is a QH/ Draft cross and I was a surprise 2 in 1 package sooo...

Jake's reel went viral, after he accepted his first saddle calmly, lead around good and then blew up on the lunge line when his thoughts got ahead of him. That's OK though because his owners have been wonderful about understanding some horses take more time. There is nothing to be gained in a rush job.. look at him now! He will w/j/l quietly. You can teach a old horse new tricks

The answer from Tuesday is Sheeba!

Sheeba is a stout Tennessee Walking Horse mare who is in her 20's.

She will be available for adoption through Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, INC after her evaluation and so far seems pretty laid back.
