As we near the end of National Health Education Week, let’s be real: states that push abstinence-only s*x education consistently see higher teen pregnancy and STI rates than states with comprehensive education.

We’ve all been teenagers, so we know that teens will do what they want regardless of what they’re told, but they still deserve accurate, judgment-free information to protect themselves and make informed choices. Shame, silence, and misinformation don’t keep anyone safe. Real education does. 📚💙

IN THE NEWS: “Every day we work to ensure we can provide high-quality, expert health care, no matter what. By bringing World Vasectomy Day to Kansas City, we are able to dramatically expand access to patients on this side of Missouri — demand was high and appointments filled up quickly," said Dr. Lydia Prevost, Staff Physician, Planned Parenthood Great Plains. “Vasectomies are an easy, permanent, and responsible option, and today we are able to ensure that cost and geography aren’t barriers for patients and families choosing this option for contraception.”

Planned Parenthood is bringing a free program to Kansas City for the first time.

💙 Abortion care is still available in Missouri 💙

A Missouri court has reaffirmed that patients can continue to access procedural abortion care, protecting people’s right to get care where they live.

Access to safe, legal abortion is essential health care. If you need care, we’re here to help you understand your options and connect with trusted providers.

You might be surprised (you shouldn’t be) that you use pronouns every damn day: “she brought me some condoms”, “he went to get STI testing”, “they support reproductive health care”, “we went to our local Planned Parenthood health center today”, etc..

Today, on International Pronouns Day, we celebrate the power of language to affirm identity. Use the pronouns someone asks you to use. It’s simple, kind, and powerful. 🥰✨🫶

October 13 is National Herpes Awareness Day.

Herpes is super common; many people don’t even know they have it.

It doesn’t make you less worthy of a romantic or s*xual partner, and it doesn’t make you “tainted”. Herpes can show up in different places (mouth, face, ge****ls, thighs), and it can spread even when no symptoms are present.

That’s why regular testing matters, even in committed or monogamous relationships, because many people transmit without knowing.

Ditch the stigma. Encourage openness and awareness.
