Bella Care Hospice Cleveland-Akron

Bella Care Hospice Cleveland-Akron CELEBRATE LIFE! Hospice is a set of services that we all may need someday -- if not for ourselves, for our family or friends.

While death is not an option for any of us, we do have choices about the services we use at the end of life. Hospice is undoubtedly the best option in the last months of life because it offers a whole variety of benefits, not only to those of us who are dying, but also to those we leave behind. Yet, despite its many advantages, hospice is still a mystery to most Americans, even 25 years after its introduction to this country. Now, more than ever, there is a sense of urgency to dispel the myths and to learn as much as possible about hospice. After all, when Bella Care Hospice is involved with people, the quote we hear most often is “I wish that we had learned about this sooner.”

When death is in sight, there are two options: submit without hope or live life as fully as ever until the end. The gift of hospice is its capacity to help families see how much can be shared at the end of life through personal and spiritual connections often left behind. It is no wonder that many family members can look back upon their hospice experience with gratitude, and with the knowledge that everything possible was done towards a peaceful death.

⭐️ Volunteer of the Year! ⭐️

We are so proud to announce that one of our Volunteers from the Columbus office received the Volunteer of the Year from the Ohio Council for Home Care and Hospice! We are thrilled!

Lori is fantastic- take a peek at her nomination from her Coordinator, Kendra.

Thank you, Lori! We 💜 you!

Lori has served as a Spiritual Care and Music Volunteer for Bella Care Hospice since 2022. Over the past 3 years, Lori has served at 2 different facilities where Bella Care Hospice cares for patients. Lori serves with a heart of compassion and kindness. She meets each patient right where they are in their end-of-life journey. Sometimes her visits with our patients just offer a bedside presence playing soft music or singing a hymn. Other times she is having conversations or offering prayer and reading scripture to patients as they are open to receiving spiritual care.

I appreciate Lori's servant heart because she brings a peaceful and calm presence that allows her to connect in a positive way with each patient. She has attended memorial services to support the families of our patients. Lori also gives extra time for her visits when our patients are actively passing. She has served over 138 hours and is a blessing.

Lori's volunteer service with Bella Care is just a small part of how she gives of her time. She is involved in her local church on the worship team as a musician and singer. She also gives her time to the Special Olympics in the state of Ohio. From the years that I have known Lori, I would describe the way she lives her life, to see the good in others. No matter a person's background or history, Lori treats everyone with respect, dignity, kindness, and love. She models and reflects the love of God in her words, actions, and attitude as she serves others.

Lori's life of service is one that does not seek or expect recognition. I believe she gives her time to help make our community a better place and to help people know that they are valued and loved. She is a caring and compassionate volunteer whose investment in music and spiritual care with our patients makes each of them feel loved and valued.

Today, our hearts are especially heavy.

We remember the lives lost on 9/11, honoring their memory and the courage of those who stood strong in the face of tragedy.

We also grieve the passing of Charlie Kirk, whose voice and presence touched so many.

Loss— whether shared as a nation or felt personally-reminds us how fragile and precious life truly is.

May we carry forward the lessons of love, unity, and resilience, holding close the people we cherish and finding strength together in the days ahead. 🇺🇸 💜
