DR. GARY BEAVER OF INDEPENDENCE IS NAMED THE 2023 OPTOMETRIST OF THE YEAR

Dr. Gary Beaver, Independence, was recognized as the 2023 Optometrist of the Year during Kansas Optometric Association’s Fall Eyecare Conference in Wichita, Kan.

This is the highest award an optometrist can receive from the KOA and is in recognition of personal sacrifices to advance the profession and the welfare of the public.

Beaver is a 1989 graduate of Southern College of Optometry. Beaver is a Past-President of the Kansas Optometric Association. He has also served on the Heart of America Contact Lens Society, North Central State Optometric Council, and is a former Director of the AOA’s Leadership Development Project and Strategic Planning. Outside of optometry, Beaver has been an integral part of his community through his local Lions Club and Rotary Club and the Independence Chamber of Commerce.

The Kansas Optometric Association serves 650 doctors of optometry across the state and around the country. It serves as a membership resource for information and educational opportunities, provides valuable public information about vision-related topics and delivers a unified voice about issues affecting the profession.
