It's National Nonprofit Day, and PSL is proud of our 97 years as a nonprofit leader in senior living!

A number of significant differences exist between non-profit and for-profit senior living communities.

Research by senior advocacy groups found that sponsorship and ownership of a senior living community can affect its quality of care, including quantifiable differences such as hospitalization rates. In addition, non-profit communities are differentiated by their missions, commitment to serving residents and the public, types of stakeholders and other aspects.

This day was full of furry and feathered fun at St. Andrew’s Village as our residents enjoyed a special visit from some adorable guests!

A huge THANK YOU to Charlene and her husband Jim for bringing their sweet and friendly goats — they stole everyone’s hearts and brought so many smiles. 🐐💕

And another big THANK YOU to our friends at Grane Hospice for sharing the cutest little goslings with us! 🐣 The gentle cuddles and curious chirps brightened everyone’s day.

Moments like these remind us how powerful simple joys and animal connections can be. Our community truly came alive — and we’re still smiling!

What happens at Casino Night... gets posted here! 😉 Our residents from Independent Living, Personal Care, and Skilled Nursing all joined in the fun for an exciting evening of games, laughter, and memories.

Each year, PSL provides Resident Assistance to numerous friends and neighbors.

In 2024, it included:
✅ Community Impact - Furnished Resident Assistance to qualified individuals in all 11 Life Plan communities and both personal care communities
✅. Direct Assistance - Provided over $5 million in Resident Assistance to 98 individuals in independent living, personal care, assisted living and skilled nursing
✅. Medical Care Support - PSL covered the $30.3 million difference between the cost of care and Medicaid reimbursements in skilled nursing
✅. Served 2-3 meals per day, 365 days a year, to each PSL community member receiving Resident Assistance

🤠🌵 Yeehaw! We had a rootin’-tootin’ good time at our Texas-Themed Buffet! With 45 residents joining in the fun, the dining room was full of great food, laughter, and a whole lot of Lone Star spirit.

From tomahawk steaks and mesquite grilled shrimp kabobs to homemade chips & salsa, sweet potato casserole, and Texas sheet cake with vanilla bean ice cream and strawberry sorbet — it was a flavor-packed afternoon to remember! 🍤🥩🍰

Thanks to Robert and the full dining team for bringing the heat, passion and creativity to making dining at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, something truly special

Fireworks, baseball, and some unforgettable moments. Kirkland Village, Bethlehem, had it all recently! ⚾🎆

Kirkland Village was proud to sponsor the fireworks at a Lehigh Valley IronPigs game and it turned into a night to remember.

One resident was out mingling and handing out stress balls, spreading smiles with every toss. Another stepped up to the mound to throw out the first pitch. And after six years away, one resident made a long-awaited return to the ballpark. 💜

Happy 235th Birthday to the U.S. Coast Guard!

Today, we honor the brave men and women of our nation's oldest continuous sea service. The Coast Guard was founded as the Revenue Cutter Service in 1790, and was America's only maritime defense force until the Department of the Navy was established in 1798.

A special salute to all the Coast Guard veterans at St. Andrew's Village! Your years of selfless service, courage, and dedication to keeping our waters safe will never be forgotten. Thank you for answering the call and for the sacrifices you made to protect our nation.

PSL celebrated Diane Dantos, Volunteer extraordinaire and PSL Altruism Award winner for 2025, with a lunch for her and her family on July 10 at the Presbyterian Village of Hollidaysburg.

Diane volunteers daily from early in the morning (sometimes before 7am) until after lunch Monday through Friday enriching the lives of the residents in the personal care home. She brings purpose, meaning, friendship and laughter to their lives through her companionship, trivia, movement, song, stories, prayer, games and sharing of meals. She loves "spending time with her girls" and they look forward to spending time with her. She has been volunteering selflessly since June of 2020.

PSL, the team and residents at Presbyterian Village and all who have met Diane are lucky to not just call her a friend, but to call her family. You can't help but smile when you are near Diane. Diane, we are blessed to have you in our lives!
