As a first time mom, it can be down right terrifying to birth outside of the system.
I often hear, “for my first I should birth in the hospital just in case.”
well what if I told you, that “just in case” is typically caused by the interventions that come with a hospital delivery?
from my 6+ years as a traveling labor & delivery nurse, I saw it all from the inside. I know how well the system is set up to make as much money as possible. and spoiler alert, it’s not in mom or baby’s best interest.
as a lay midwife, I am able to read the space the mother needs to fully surrender to labor.
maybe she needs a stern and blunt pep talk at the beginning. “Listen queen, the ONLY way out is THROUGH”
maybe she needs intimacy and alone time with her partner 😘 😈 “I’ll be making tea in the kitchen”
maybe she needs continuous support and reassurance. “you’re body is doing exactly what it needs too, breathe in power - breathe out baby”
it is an absolute HONOR to witness a first time mom break the chains of generational birth trauma and pave the way for new moms to come!
