✨After a year of studying the anatomy of the pelvic floor, enhancing my knowledge of pelvic floor conditions & ailments, and increasing my yoga practice knowledge pertaining to the Pelvic Floor, and working with multiple students, I have officially received my endorsement from the founder of Pelvic Floor Yoga- Leslie Howard.

I am now of hundreds of certified Pelvic Floor Yoga Therapists in the states and the FIFTH in Indiana!

If you are an athlete- specific those who are gymnasts, runners/hurdlers, pole fitness enthusiasts whether for competition, leisure, or work, high impact sports, etc. you may suffer from Pelvic Floor Dysfunction.

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction can range from something that ✨seems✨ as small as:

Stress incontinence (not being able to hold your urine when exercising, lifting, laughing, sneezing, or coughing).

F***l incontinence

To something that is considered more severe such as:

prolapse of the uterus or bladder.

All things which can be fixed!

In Pelvic Floor Yoga, first and foremost we go through your entire pelvic floor history… I then teach you how to bring awareness to your pelvic floor and go through a whole process to then help you distinguish whether you are suffering from a hypertonic(tense pelvic floor) or a hypotonic(lax pelvic floor) or if you are a combo of both!

I then tailor a sequence developed specifically to your pelvic floor needs and come to you weekly to manage your progress.

If you are currently working with a pelvic floor physical therapist, I loop them into our plan and we work collaboratively to get your pelvic floor on the right track!

Allow me to offer some perspective…

🌱When women get their periods their uterus increases in size by 50%!!!! Consider this, then also consider the fact that our pelvic floor houses the uterus, or bladder, and our re**um.

🌱 So, knowing our pelvic floor is housing all of these different organs, that are at times different sizes, please give yourself some grace if you struggle from time to time!

🌱 The way I help women distinguish the condition of their pelvic floor, is by assisting them in bringing awareness to their pelvic floor through breath practice, sometimes adding weight is necessary… from there, we can determine whether the pelvic floor is hypertonic(tense), hypotonic(lax), or a combination of both!

✨Whether you are lax are tense, BOTH are indicators of a weak pelvic floor.

🌱Another method I use to determine the condition of your pelvic floor is Perineal Massage, which is an internal massage done by YOU, starting from 2:00 moving clockwise internally to 10:00. This is one of the best way to help you distinguish the condition of your pelvic floor.

✨For example: if your pelvic floor feels hard or like guitar strings it is tense if it is more mushy it is lax. If one side feels like one thing and the other doesn’t, it’s probably combination.

🌱Depending on the condition, I develop a sequence that specifically targets the pelvic floor muscles that are in need of care. Since yoga also includes a lot of core strengthening, you will be strengthening your abs as well!
