We love how easy it is for our patients to get in touch with us.

No frustrating phone trees. No triage lines. No talking to staff you don’t know. No wondering if it’s worth the bother to try and get a message to your doctor when you may not even hear back until a couple days later.

You just text Dr. Moore or Dr. Holliday, let them know what’s going on, and we answer you OURSELVES! Often we can handle issues by text or phone.

Other times you need to be examined in person - often we can fit you in same day even if the problem didn’t occur until later in the day.

We can’t promise our patients NEVER need an emergency room visit. But we can promise it is MUCH less likely because you can get hold of us so quickly and easily.

Just today a patient texted at 2pm, had a visit in the parking lot, left with our clinic crutches to borrow for a couple days at 3:45pm, and was at the X-ray facility for an image by 4pm.

One of our favorite, former medical assistants stopped by our office yesterday. 🥰

We worked with her several years ago in our previous practice, and she knew about our idea to open a direct primary care practice when it was just a seedling of an idea.

She no longer lives in Indy, and we felt honored that she would spend a small part of her trip visiting our current direct primary care practice.

The main way that direct primary care practices are able to provide extended visits, direct access to the doctor, and an increased availability in visits is the fact that we are micropractices.

Anyone who has researched the direct primary care model has likely heard the term “micropractice.” Indy Direct Docs also functions as a micropractice. If you are wondering what this means, read on.

One of our favorite patients raises chickens and turkeys for their eggs. This week we were both gifted with a mix of chicken and turkey eggs.

We think the large, speckled ones to the right are the turkey eggs.

The FDA is investigating 4 cases of infant sepsis due to either Salmonella or Cronobacter sakazakii. The source of the infections has been traced back to a plant in Sturgis, Michigan that produces the following powder formulas: Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare.

We are doing a mix of telehealth and in-person visits today for our patients. We are grateful for the flexibility that direct primary care offers to our patients on a snow day like today.

We love practicing in the direct primary care model. Even when our patients need to visit the emergency room or are admitted to the hospital, having direct access to a personal doctor has been a great benefit to them.

As direct primary care physicians, we take pride in having a deeper level of involvement in our patients’ care needs. For that reason, we are asked from time to time if we see our patients when they are in the hospital like doctors in the past would do.

Making one of our frequent pharmacy trips to Needler's Fresh Market at the downtown Indianapolis Lockrbie location today.

Their pharmacists offer true personal service - one of our favorite things to see.

When was the last time you saw a pharmacist come out and show a patient where to find the right medicine for them? Or recognized you and asked about your kids the second you arrived for your medicines?

Gosh, a lot of the time as a doctor I can’t even get a pharmacy staff member, much less the actual pharmacist, on the phone at big box places. Pretty similar to a lot of big box doctor offices actually….

If you’re looking for a pharmacy with a small town feel and real customer care, we would suggest giving Needlers a try.

We are not being paid to promote Needlers. They didn’t even ask for us to make this post. They may not even see it. And of course we are happy to send your meds to any pharmacy you choose.

But if you’re looking for a more personal approach, as both patients and physicians we can say that our experience with Needlers has far exceeded our expectations for almost 2 years now.

Sometimes it really catches people off guard when Dr. Moore or Dr. Holliday answer our clinic phone personally.

Today a staff member of a surgery group called to coordinate the care of an Indy Direct Docs patient. I answered on the 2nd ring - “Indy Direct Docs, this is Dr. Moore speaking”. The staff member paused, stammered, and then cautiously asked if she called the doctor’s personal line by mistake.

I laughed and reassured her - nope, we are a small office focused 100% on care quality instead of volume. We see a smaller panel of patients so we can actually spend time talking to them.

And yes, that decrease in middlemen and staff means we answer our own phones! If we don’t answer your call right away, it’s because we are talking to a patient. So leave a message and one of the 2 physicians will be getting back to you shortly because we take our own messages too.
