Bluem Herbal Bodywork Bluem Herbal Bodywork (formerly Blue Ether) is a massage and bodywork practice. Deep breathing, and occasional laughter is encouraged.

My goal is to help people live with less pain and stress using massage therapy, yoga, and mindfulness. Bluem Herbal Bodywork (formerly Blue Ether) is a massage and bodywork practice that incorporates elements of mindfulness and a touch of herbalism. It is a space of mind-body reconnection, a space where you can let down all your troubles for a time and reconnect to yourself. My ultimate goal, at least right now, is to own and operate a tea shop/massage practice downtown Indy. A space where I can still see clients, and also hold community based events such as herbal workshops, yoga/mindfulness classes, etc. The world could use another zen space. The spaces I utilize to see clients and work with the public are free from judgement, and hateful words/actions are not tolerated. Please, please, please, do your best to be kind.

Moving on the next best thing. Getting better and better. Moving quickly and growing! These things all feel so great that it can be a challenge to actually stop and care for ourselves. Especially in a world that's geared around us being productive as much of the time as possible, making time to rest and recover is a necessity. You'll actually be better for it in the long run!

Ribs are like this funky boney cage that articulates with the spine, and some with the sternum. Ribs have important jobs: protecting the heart and lungs, facilitating breathing, as well as providing important attachments for muscles and connective tissues. Given their important role, it becomes clear that malfunctions here can have some pretty serious consequences.

The lungs themselves don't "do" the breathing. Muscles that attach to the ribs do that job! Chronic muscle tension, especially in the shoulders (who could possibly have that) can create breathing issues. In some instances the symptoms can even resemble that of panic/anxiety attacks! If you've never had a good rib rub, this is your sign to come in and let me ease some of your costal tension! πŸ’™

Fun fact: there are seven different kinds of rest identified by Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith. They are: physical, mental, sensory, emotional, social, creative, and spiritual. I encourage everyone to research how their body best needs rest, because it's not just sleeping or doom-scrolling (believe it or not). You probably already do most, if not all of them in some way or another!

Muscles, just like all other living things, must consume nutrients and then produce waste. Our body is really good at removing this waste. Even so, in some cases it can build up to uncomfortable levels. Massage therapy is like squeezing a sponge and pressing the soap scum out of it. It helps the body move fresh fluid into these tissues, getting rid of waste, and providing oxygen and nutrient rich blood!
