Officer Katie Thyne with the Newport News Police Department, and U.S. Navy Veteran, was tragically killed in the line of duty back in 2020. Our hearts are still broken over another fallen hero taken too soon.

She and her partner were investigating drug activity and approached a vehicle. The driver sped off and dragged Officer Thyne before hitting a tree. She later passed away at a nearby hospital.

The driver is now in custody and facing charges for second-degree m_rder and felony hit-and-run.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with her family and friends as her loss will never be forgotten.
