✨make it mystical✨
I get asked a lot of I “do energy work.”
It’s a funny question to me because…of course I do. Providing massage like many healing services is energetically healing. No, I haven’t been formally trained in reiki or anything similar, but through a decade of studying and practicing yoga and six years of working one on one with clients, I would say I am pretty confident in the way massage affects the energetic field of the body.
In the 8 limbs yoga, we work from the outside in…like nesting dolls, if you will. We start with the gross physical body and do asana, physical yoga postures. Then we work our way through the more dense layers with breathwork, mindfulness and meditation with the goal of getting to the subtlest layer - samadhi which means “absorption” or “bliss.”
When our bodies are uncomfortable, in pain or unwell, it’s more difficult to access those subtle layers. We can be so easily distracted with what’s going on with the physical.
Massage is one tool that helps alleviate a variety of physical discomfort to make way for more energetic flow.
One of my favorite things about being a massage therapist is getting to see the transformation in energy from before a massage to after. I don’t think I’ve ever given a session where the client didn’t leave looking and feeling just a little bit lighter and brighter. There’s truly an energetic shift that happens over the course of a massage session. It’s a gift to witness ✨
I’m curious to hear your thoughts. Do you notice an energetic shift in yourself during or after receiving a massage? Comment below 💛
