The Mind, Body and Soul Connection to Total Well Being

We all have greatness within. We can change our whole lives through making changes in our Mind, Body and Soul Connection. We can develop and transition into positivity and gratefulness through our dedication to changing our mind, body, and soul.

All three elements of SELF require food/fuel to survive. Let's start with our bodies, since that is the most familiar to most. We must eat food to produce energy and maintain our bodies to survive. We must get adequate sleep for our bodies to survive. We must engage in adequate water consumption for our bodies to survive. Food, Sleep and Water are the fuel to our bodies, but there is must more to this puzzle. We need to get use our bodies to ensure we do not have muscle or strength loss as we age. I remember distinctly in my 20s being able to stay up all night, sleep for two hours and go to work the next day. I often repeated this cycle daily. It was like I had unlimited energy and I definitely used it! However, as I got older, I realized that supply was NOT unlimited. I needed more sleep to wake up and be productive. Being proactive in your mid-life could greatly improve your later-life results. But honestly, I did not choose that path. I am stubborn and at times I would not take care of my body. The end result is that now, I have to pay more attention to my body and I am limited on some physical tasks. Ensuring you are properly fueling your body and maintaining mobility as you age, is of significant importance.

The next area is our Minds. How can you fuel your mind? It is of critical importance to continue to use your mind after schooling. We need to read and problem solve to ensure our minds remain alert and prepared. We can become slow and unprepared if we do not use our minds daily. I do want to focus on an important aspect of fueling our minds. Often times, we feed our minds negative thoughts and engage in overthinking. Both can and will create a negative mindset and will fuel negativity in your mind. However, if you disengage in negative thoughts and overthinking and, instead, have an intentional approach to positive thinking, then you can overcome the overthinking! I can remember on MANY occasions, I would try to mentally prepare myself for the WORSE case scenario because I thought it would reduce my level of disappointment or fear if the WORES case scenario happened. BUT many times the WORSE case scenario DID NOT happen BUT I allowed my mind to endure the TRAUMA of the WORSE case scenario just the same! I created a negative mindset through repeated TRAUMA to my MIND! When I realized my influence on my MIND, I began to remove my expectations of each situation I faced and just WAIT on the results. So many times we experience negativity in our minds due to our own expectations and this can lead to an overall negative experience in LIFE! We need to UNLEARN expectations and fuel positive thoughts to overcome this negative experience. Simply waking up every day and being grateful can change your overall experience for the day.

Ok...now let's talk about SOUL FUEL...Your SOUL is so much more than a religion or belief. It is the inner core of who you are, what choices you make, and what you value. It is the ultimate belief in SELF! I didn't realized until I lost my mother how important this aspect of life really is to our overall well being. This experience was not only disabling, but it was overall a traumatic situation. I felt so lost. I did not know how to function, at times. I have always considered myself a spiritual person and found great joy in mindfulness practices and meditation. BUT I did not know how to stop feeling so negative and drained. I took some steps to realign my Chakras and began a journey of healing. I found that many times when I felt negative, I was not taking time for self care and redirection. I found that when I set my goals for the week, MOST of the time my goals surrounded doing something for someone else and not myself. I realized that if my schedule was SO full of everyone else's needs, how would I ever care for my own. Many times we burn out because we place our SOULS on the backburner, always thinking of it last. Not only that, but we spend so much time viewing television, on social media, and dealing with cyber-life, often we neglect our real lives. We develop negative routines that eliminate our needs and only focus on our careers, family, others and social media connections. That's when I promised myself to gradually introduce my NEEDS into my ROUTINES. I started with once weekly, then a couple times, until I found space for DAILY SOUL FUEL. Once I was taking care of my needs daily, I felt my mind shift. I felt a complete change in my overall well being. I found energy I thought was lost forever. Don't get me wrong, BAD HABITS are hard to break and I find myself behaving in my old routines sometimes; however, NOW, I recognize it and take ownership of my own impact on my well being.

Not only does proper care and maintenance of your Mind Body and Soul Connection help with the relationship you have with YOURSELF, but it helps with the relationships you have with OTHERS.
