Many think that the blockage is composed of•only• of , but this is a complex structure composed of cholesterol, collagen (fibrosis), and calcium, often making it a rigid, stone like consistency. This makes simply opening up the lumen difficult; the plaque is not the consistency of butter, which textbook illustrations can sometimes imply.

This young lady died from a brain glioma at the age of 33. Unfortunately, glioma—a high grade malignant brain tumor—can form at virtually any age but that 30-50 age range is especially common. I remember her best from her character in The Walking Dead.
