Mental health recovery isn’t one‐size‐fits‐all, and no one should face it alone. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re recognizing the importance of compassionate, specialized care for people navigating mental health and substance use challenges.

At Community Fairbanks Recovery Center, treatment is built around dignity, respect and evidence‐based support, meeting people where they are and helping them move forward, one step at a time. Support starts with understanding.

• Keep communication open
• Lead with curiosity, not judgment
• Ask for support when you’re unsure how to help

Stress can cause unwanted thoughts and feelings. People often end up drinking to cope with the uncomfortable experiences.

If this is something you may not have considered, ask yourself the following questions:

- Am I drinking to cope with stress?
- Has my alcohol use changed recently?
- Do I feel pressure to drink in social settings?

Being self-aware is the first step to altering drinking habits. If you or a loved one need further support, visit eCommunity.com/Fairbanks

Prom season can bring added pressure for teens. Our prevention education classes are available to those who want to learn more about the benefits of recovery. Teens can get started by scheduling an assessment through our Access Department. These classes help build awareness around drugs and alcohol while supporting ongoing recovery.

For those who need additional support, treatment options range from a three‑nights‑a‑week Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to a weekly Level One therapy program. This allows teens to receive age‑appropriate care that fits their needs and schedules.

Naloxone is a safe, easy-to-use medication that can quickly reverse an opioid overdose when administered in an emergency. Knowing what it is, how it works and where to access it in your community is an important step toward prevention and response.
