I graduated this past June ‘23 🎓👩🏽🎓🥳
I had a unique schooling experience. As a junior in high school, I was more like a senior- set to graduate early with the highest academic honors, was able to successfully complete several college classes with awesome grades, and I had already earned the Child Development Associates certificate that I needed for my career after high school while still being only 17 years old.
And yet, Life got the best of me and a series of circumstances both within and outside of my control caused me to leave school that year WITHOUT HAVING MY HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA!
Not having it was such a source of frustration and even shame for me for many years, though it wasn’t really impacting my adult careers because I already nearly had an associates degree and actually had more formal college education than most of my work peers.
In 2021 I finally enrolled in a program to officially obtain my high school diploma but the state of my life and the world at the time did not support me being able to walk across the stage that year. In 2023, I finally put my focus on getting the program done, took the 5 tests necessary and passed each with flying colors (including the math test that I was so concerned about and getting two perfect scores in writing and social studies), and was able to let my family and my SON watch me walk across the stage 🥰 It was a moment even better than I could have had if everything happened “on time” when I was a teenager.
All in divine timing 💫
