Yoga first found me as a child, but it was as a teenager that it truly became my foundation.

What I love about yoga is that there’s so much diversity in the practice; it meets you exactly where you are. It’s why I became certified, trained in trauma-informed practices, and keep coming back to the mat.

Seeing so many familiar faces and new ones, all in the same space, moving, breathing, and connecting, reminded us exactly why we do what we do. This community shows up with such openness and heart, and we don’t take that for granted for a single second.

In Shelley’s class, we will emphasize warming up joints first, gradually increasing motion, incorporating more fluid movements, encouraging use of props and wall for extra support, and a longer cool down period.

The Zone Technique is a healing and alignment modality created in the 1930’s by chiropractor Dr. Thurman Fleet. It is comprised of 6 zones: Glandular, Eliminative, Nervous, Digestive, Muscular, and Circulatory Systems. All dis-eases can be attributed to one or more disturbances in the 6 zones.

Shelley’s mission is to help yogis address the effects of chronic stress/ trauma/ unregulated nervous system.

The emphasis is on building nervous system resilience and improving vagal tone and heart rate variability so that we can better respond (instead of react) to stressful situations.

Over time, with consistent practice, we will move out of survival mode and into Thriving Mode!!
