He joined the Marine Corp at the young age of 17, and was soon in active duty in the Vietnam War. During his second tour in Vietnam, a tragic accident caused him to become an amputee. However, rather than dwelling on the negatives of this life-changing event, he made the decision to turn a tragedy into a lifelong profession of serving amputees. This is a decision that eventually led him to become a leader in an industry that was in need of a knowledgeable craftsman. He has served five generations of Veterans who have served in WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan wars, all over a time span of 40 years. Jim attended Northwestern University, School of Prosthetics, to attain the necessary education to make his dream a reality. He would argue that it was the “hands on education” that made him the leader in this industry. Jim has been an example to his patients throughout his life; his amputation hasn’t slowed him down—he still enjoys hobbies such as golf, fishing, and hunting. In 1991, Jim had a vision of being able to serve his fellow amputees, and to do so with honesty, integrity, and compassion. Thus, Prosthetic Solutions of Indiana was born, and it all started with the inspiration and vision of one man of whom many have said was given a “special gift of understanding the designing, building, and maintaining of prostheses.”

o RII has risen from a small business that started fabricating prosthetic devices out of a home garage to a cornerstone in O & P in the Indianapolis area. o RII has been in business over 20 years. o RII was the first facility in Indianapolis to provide a microprocessor controlled hand in 2008. o RII was one of the first to deliver a microprocessor controlled power foot. o RII was the first to first facility in Indianapolis to provide a Genium microprocessor controlled knee. o RII has always been at the leading edge of technology without losing touch of the craftsmanship of yesterday. o RII staff developed unique socket designs, coming from over 40 years of experience. o RII has worked with the Veterans Administration Hospital since our facility opened
