Auto Injuries -

Treating auto injuries can be a challenge for a couple of reasons. First, 85% of auto injuries are ligament sprains which if not taken care of will lead to life-long problems. Second almost 100% of people injured in car accidents will eventually develop degenerative joint disease.

Call us if you have concerns, we have helped people with this type of injuries for more than 30 years.

QUESTIONS PATIENTS HAVE ASKED:

I went to the hospital after being in a car accident. They did an exam and took x-rays and said there was nothing wrong with me, but I still hurt. Why did they say there was "nothing wrong?"

ANSWER: The emergency room is there to triage not to treat. Their primary objective is to determine if your have life threatening injuries. They are there and stabilize your condition, then refer you to the proper doctor for treatment.

TTH DOCTOR SAID THE XRAYS WERE NORMAL:

ANSWER: The trauma radiologist is looking for two things, fractures and dislocations. If those are not present, they generally will report that the x-rays are unremarkable.

EXPLANATION: Trauma radiologists look for life-threatening injuries, and because of this they tend not to include abnormalities such as a change in the neck curvature, which is a common finding in whiplash injuries. This causes confusion for patients and family doctors. When the neck curve is bent in the opposite direction there is are injuries to the ligaments, tendons and joints of the spine 100% of the time.

My family doctor gave me ibuprofen and muscle relaxers, but they aren’t helping...

ANSWER: Sometimes they will help take the “edge off,” but medicine doesn’t “fix” a joint problem.

EXPLANATION:
The majority of spine issues following a car accident are sprain/strain injuries. A sprain is a tearing and overstretching of ligaments. That’s how the neck curve reverses. These injuries don’t heal themselves, that’s where chiropractic medicine comes in. We gently help the spine become re-aligned into its natural position. Chemistry (medications) don’t change joint function, we do.

If you have any more questions please write to me. Always happy to help.
