Indianapolis EMS is so proud that our very own Will Harmon and Aubrey Atha received the 2025 EMS Excellence Award. These providers were presented personal plaques and their names were engraved on the perpetual plaque in the EMS Lounge to remember and honor their dedication and expertise for their life-saving work. This is also the first time IEMS providers have received this prestigious award. Congratulations Will and Aubrey!

It is a privilege to present the EMS Excellence Award to William Harmon and Aubrey Atha. This honor is reserved for those who demonstrate an unwavering dedication to public safety, provide the highest caliber of care, and exemplify service excellence. While responding to critical trauma run, William and Aubrey found a person suffering from multiple center-of-mass gunshot wounds that required immediate critical care. The patient was rushed to Methodist Hospital where they recovered for two months before being discharged. This remarkable recovery is a direct result of the seamless coordination and expert care provided by William, Aubrey, and IU Health trauma services. Please join us in congratulating them for their life-saving work.

Our hearts are with the Beech Grove police department and the family of Officer Brian Elliot.

A message from Beech Grove Police Chief Michael Maurice:

"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that today we lost one of our very own, Officer Brian Elliott. Officer Elliott, along with two other Beech Grove Police Department officers, was dispatched at 6:08 p.m. to the 100 block of Diplomat Court for a disturbance. After they arrived, Officer Elliott and another officer were shot. Both officers were rushed to Eskenazi Hospital, but despite the best lifesaving efforts by medical personnel, Officer Elliott succumbed to his injuries. The other officer, who we are not naming at this time, is currently in stable condition and is expected to survive.

My heart goes out to Brian’s wife, Erin, his parents, and all of his family, friends, and loved ones. At this time, I am asking that we lean on one another to get through this.

We are grateful to the team at Eskenazi Hospital, and our law enforcement and community partners for their extraordinary response and support."
