🦶 Diabetes & Foot Care: Corns and Calluses Need Special Attention

For people with diabetes, corns and calluses are more than a cosmetic concern. Reduced sensation and circulation can allow pressure points to worsen without pain, increasing the risk of skin breakdown, infection, and ulcers.

⚠️ Why this matters:
• Thickened skin can hide sores underneath
• Decreased feeling may delay noticing injuries
• Improper trimming can lead to wounds

🚫 Important: Never cut corns or calluses at home or use over-the-counter acid treatments if you have diabetes.

🦶 Heel Pain That Won’t Go Away? It Could Be Achilles Tendonitis

Achilles tendonitis is a common cause of pain in the back of the heel and lower leg. It often develops from overuse, improper footwear, tight calf muscles, or sudden increases in activity.

⚠️ Common symptoms include:
• Pain or stiffness along the Achilles tendon
• Swelling or tenderness near the heel
• Pain that worsens with activity or first thing in the morning

Early treatment is key to preventing worsening pain or tendon injury. Conservative care such as stretching, supportive footwear, custom orthotics, and activity modification can make a big difference.
