In retirement, Dr. Greist extends her heart for service to Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS), Indiana’s largest animal shelter. She clean runs, socializes animals, makes treats. No job is too small, no task too burdensome.

Staff and family members gathered at IACS to learn how we can help Indianapolis’ most vulnerable animals and contribute in ways to show Dr. Greist just how much she means to us.

Never underestimate the value of the gift of your time.

Dr. Greist retired from Innovative Hematology late last year, and she’s chosen to spend much of her free time volunteering at Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS).

To honor her commitment to service, our staff promised to host a special Day of Service at IACS. More than 30 IHI staff and family members came together last Saturday to socialize with animals, clean runs, fold laundry, mop floors, and assemble dog treats.

“This was definitely much more meaningful than anything material. I really appreciate everyone giving up their Saturday,” she said.

Ryan White died 36 years ago today. He was an ordinary kid who used his voice to help change the world. He was born with hemophilia, a rare blood disease. He was one of the first children with hemophilia to be diagnosed with AIDS after one of his blood treatments was tainted with HIV.

While we celebrate Ryan's life every day at The Children's Museum, we're taking a few extra moments today to remember and honor the extraordinary life of a boy who just wanted to be a regular kid. https://bit.ly/2VbFuiE
