April is ! ๐Ÿ“ Different types of players tend to get different injuries from playing.

โš ๏ธPlayers under 60 tend to have sprains and strains from lunging or sudden stops. ๐Ÿฉน
โš ๏ธPlayers over 60 more commonly see fractures, often from a fall. ๐Ÿฆด

This doesn't mean you should stop playing the game you love: it DOES mean you should use caution and make sure that you play within your limits. Accidents do happen and if they happen to you, Body One is here to help. โค๏ธ

Your Friday PT Tip ๐Ÿ’ก: Dr. Chelsea Savage wrote a whole blog (find it online at bodyonept.com) about what she wishes more patients knew. Here are three biggies:

โญ Your body is resilient, especially your spine! We often see lots of scary content about back pain, spinal damage, and recovery from injury. The truth is your spine is DESIGNED to move and bear weight.

โญ Pain doesn't always mean damage. Sometimes we become hypersensitive or focus on pain (or the fear of pain). By shifting your focus, you can often turn down the dial on your body's pain alarm.

โญ Gradual progression = the key to recovery. Most of us didn't earn those strength imbalances or poor form in a day, so it's going to take more time than we want to make progress with recovery. Gradual consistency beats overdoing it EVERY time.

April is at Body One! Learn more about vertigo & balance this month:

๐ŸšซMyth: "I think I have vertigo. I just need to wait for it to go away."
โœ”๏ธFact: Nope! Especially with BPPV, quick diagnosis & treatment can mean the difference between suffering for weeks (or months) and getting relief.

Specially trained physical therapists can utilize manual treatment to treat the cause of BPPV: tiny crystals in your inner ear that are out of place. The manual treatment can reposition these crystals and relieve the spinning sensation. PT can work in as few as 1-3 sessions!

If the room spins ๐Ÿ˜ต when you lie down, don't wait: call us! ๐Ÿ“ฒ
