In honor of 988 Day, free and reduced-cost QPR trainings are available across Indiana to help Hoosiers learn how to recognize the warning signs of su***de, ask the right questions, and connect someone to help.

What is QPR?
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, Refer. It’s a nationally recognized, evidence-based su***de prevention training similar to CPR for heart health. QPR equips everyday people with the tools to:
• Question someone about su***de directly
• Persuade them to seek help
• Refer them to the right supports

Su***de is preventable. QPR trainings empower communities by giving individuals the confidence and skills to step in and potentially save a life.

Yesterday marked an important step forward for Hoosier mental health.

Governor Mike Braun joined advocates, leaders, and legislators in signing HEA 1385, a bill that strengthens Indiana’s commitment to recovery and wellness. The bill will allow individuals with a recent felony conviction related to controlled substances to now be employed as peer recovery coaches in healthcare settings.

We are grateful to Rep. Garrett Bascom, Sen. Michael Crider, Rep. Victoria Garcia Wilburn, and Rep. Danté Chesser for leading this effort at the Statehouse. Your dedication to mental health and recovery services will leave a lasting impact across Indiana.
