Ohio cannabis retailers have sold over $702 million worth of adult-use products since the industry launched one year ago.

FULL STORY:
Licensed cannabis retailers in Ohio have sold over $702 million in adult-use cannabis products since the adult-use market launched one year ago, according to data released this month by the Division of Cannabis Control (DCC).
Regulators said that at the one-year mark, consumers have purchased over 109,000 pounds of cannabis flower since the launch of legal sales.
Currently, 159 Ohio dispensaries hold dual-use certificates of operation, which allow the retailers to sell adult-use cannabis alongside medical cannabis products. The market launched on August 6, 2024, with 98 dispensaries licensed to sell adult-use products, according to FOX8.
The DCC update also noted there are 37 licensed cannabis cultivators in Ohio, 46 processors, 8 testing labs, and 549 physicians holding certificates to recommend patients for the medical cannabis program. Additionally, the current average price per gram of cannabis flower in Ohio is $6.63.
The state's medical cannabis program, which was established in 2019, has seen its numbers fall since adult-use sales began, although there remained over 450,000 patients registered with the program as of June 2025.
The total combined cannabis sales in Ohio surpassed $2.5 billion in March, led by surging adult-use sales.

A GOP bill was just filed to move cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III.

If this happens... 280E no longer applies.

That means cannabis businesses could finally deduct things like rent, payroll, and marketing keeping more of their hard earned money.

But new rules could also be stricter, making it harder for smaller businesses to keep up.

And with lower taxes and federal changes, more investors might jump in... which could set us up for a boom and a bust.

Rep. Greg Steube just reintroduced his "Ma*****na 1-to-3 Act" the same bill he's filed in each of the last four sessions.

But here's the thing.

Cannabis would still be under the Controlled Substances Act.

It would be federally controlled. It would still be illegal for anything outside FDA approved medical products.

Personally?

I want to see cannabis fully descheduled at the federal level. I also believe people have the right to grow at home.
