I’m the owner of Higher Life CBD Dispensary & Smoke Shop, and today the excise police followed up to ENFORCE a 7-DAY SUSPENSION on our to***co license—stemming from a PREVIOUS raid over FEDERALLY LEGAL H**P FLOWER (under 0.3% THC, per the 2018 Farm Bill).
We’re NOT closed! You can still shop for our other products, but we can’t sell to***co during this time. This is killing our revenue right when we need it most. And get this: H**p is set to be BANNED in just 12 months—why not let us sell legal flower until then? We’d generate money for our business AND tax revenue for the government!
This overreach is hurting small businesses like ours that serve the community with safe, legal options. How is this fair?

Did you know? Because of the 2018 Farm Bill, thousands of low-level possession charges nationwide have been paused or dismissed due to testing burdens.

The 2018 U.S. Farm Bill legalized h**p (cannabis with ≤0.3% delta-9-THC), creating challenges for distinguishing it from “illegal” ma*****na. This has led to numerous dismissals of possession or trafficking charges after lab testing confirmed low delta-9-THC levels.

This legal change also killed the "plain smell" doctrine in many states. Because legal h**p and illegal ma*****na smell identical (due to the same terpenes), the odor of cannabis alone is no longer sufficient probable cause for a vehicle search in many jurisdictions.

Verdict: The War on H**p is just the War on Drugs, repackaged as caring about children.

Thoughts on MJBizcon 2025 from a h**p operators perspective.

Lots of back and forth talks on policy, what should be pushed, what should not be pushed, and an emphasis on unity amongst the industry. We may have been given 365 days but the first 60 days are the most important when it comes to taking action. We’re on the clock and while there is a lot of optimism, the fear is obvious. That was noticeable not only through conversation but also by the turn out of this years conference. Majority of h**p operators cut the Bizcon expense, that typically in the past has been highly anticipated from an attendance perspective. Those that showed up, came with a plan and were there for a purpose, specific to unity. It’s an interesting time, it’s a daunting time, and there’s lots of anxiety - anxiety in general comes from the uncertainty of the future, it’s easy to say our industry is anxious as well as confused. When we’re confused, we are forced to come up with new ideas, and new ideas give us new opportunities. **p

Friends, let’s talk facts. Alcohol is killing us—literally. Every year, excessive drinking claims about 178,000 lives in the US alone from accidents, liver disease, and more.  Globally, it’s 2.6 million deaths annually.  That’s nearly 500 deaths a DAY!  And don’t get me started on drunk driving: Over 20 million Americans admit to driving under the influence of alcohol in a year, way more than cannabis. 
Meanwhile, h**p and its products like CBD? They’re a safer alternative with real benefits! H**p helps with stress reduction, anti-inflammatory effects, better sleep, and anxiety relief—without the deadly risks.   No overdose deaths from cannabis, unlike alcohol’s binge-drinking fatalities.  Studies show cannabis poses fewer overall harms than booze.
