It’s important to be mindful of who you most closely associate with and if they live their lives in ways that inspire you and uplift you and encourage you to be the best version of yourself.

Maybe there’s a better way to phrase this, but this message spoke to me. As a human, a yogi, and a reiki practitioner, I somehow got confused into thinking I needed to tolerate mistreatment and abuse from those who were purported to have “loved” me.
In reality, yoga teaches us to find our personal limitations, our boundaries. Those limitations also include what and who we allow in our lives. Yoga teaches us to find our personal power, our voice to speak our truth. If having boundaries and standing up for yourself causes people to walk away, let them walk.

We are all human. Sometimes people try to dim our shine and sometimes we may find ourselves dimming someone else’s shine, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Be mindful of how you interact with others and how others interact with you. Always choose to uplift those around you, and don’t tolerate those who continually try to dim your shine.

Saw this and it made me think of the yogic concept of Bramacharya, or “right use of energy.”
How often do we use our energy to focus on the things we DON’T want or the things we are worried about, instead of the things we DO want? How often do we use our energy chasing external sensations that come from alcohol or substances, sexual relations, approval and acceptance from others, to name a few? What we direct our energy towards is what we end up getting more of. Today, ask yourself where your focus is and if you are content with the reality that will be created as a result.
