Progress House, the largest and oldest Recovery Residence in Indiana, turned 59 years old in December 2020. We are not a traditional halfway house.
(202)
Progress House became a wholly governed subsidiary of Aspire Indiana Health. Progress House provides an opportunity for men seeking permanent recovery from an addiction to any mind-altering substance. Our program is a structured, 3-Phase behavioral health and long term residential treatment program that focuses on the healing of our client's bodies, the transformation of their minds, and the awakening of their spirits. We have often wondered what does that mean? Halfway to where? We are a Recovery Center and we use proven, evidence-based practices to equip individuals to live an active life in recovery sufficient enough to bring about recovery from substance use disorders. In our experience, a psychic change, also referred to as a spiritual awakening, is required to achieve permanent recovery. The Twelve Steps create the transformation in the individual and our recovery program, including clinical services, provides the framework that increases the likelihood of success. In November 2019, Progress House became a wholly governed subsidiary of Aspire Indiana Health allowing us to provide the most comprehensive on-site services in Indiana including: Primary Medical Care, Behavioral Health Care, Medication Assisted Treatment, 12-Step, Recovery Coach/Peer Support, Skills Training, Supported Employment, Case Management and more. Progress House is part of Aspire's Whole Health Continuum. To learn visit more https://www.progresshouse.org/residential-treatment

When a Residential Recovery Associate position opened, Sean leaped for it. βThe opportunity to be of service to other people and to really use some of my personal experience to help others β it is such an intoxicating feeling to see somebody understand your story and then learn and grow from it; thatβs amazing.β

βοΈ July is a Month of Freedom, Hope, and Healing π»
As we celebrate independence this month, letβs also honor the brave individuals on their journey to addiction recovery. Recovery is not just about breaking free from substance useβit's about reclaiming your life, rebuilding connections, and rediscovering purpose.
πͺ Whether youβre taking your first step or celebrating years of sobriety, your courage inspires us all.
This July, letβs uplift stories of resilience, recovery, and renewal. There is help. There is hope. There is healing. π
Today, we commemorate Juneteenth β the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of the enduring strength, resilience, and contributions of Black communities throughout history. βπΎ
As we reflect, let's also recommit to justice, equity, and the ongoing fight for true freedom for all.

The mission of Progress House is to save lives and serve others by providing seekers of hope a safe sober living environment and tools for developing long-term recovery, self-sufficiency, and community reintegration. Leading men from Addiction to Recovery since 1961!
Progress House is a 501(c)3 Recovery Home for men over the age of 18. We work on personal growth while abstaining from all illicit drug and alcohol use. Progress House was founded in 1961 and has been in operation for 57 years. We are the oldest and largest Recovery Residence for men in the State of Indiana, serving 160 men total.
Asking for help is the most crucial first step anyone can take on the road to recovery. We accept only those willing to surrender to their addiction. Upon entry to the House, residents begin with an assessment and an agreed upon recovery plan.
Our programming is based on the 12 Step philosophy, that once we straighten out spiritually, we straighten out physically and mentally. The staff at Progress House works closely with our residents to address the physical, mental and spiritual needs of each resident. One of the keys to our success is the therapeutic value of addicts and alcoholics working with other addicts and alcoholics, admitting there is a problem; seeking help; engaging in a thorough self-examination; confidential self-disclosure; making amends for harm done, and eventually helping others with substance use disorders who want to recover.
Our programming addresses our residents holistically (mind, body, and spirit), which includes:
Safe and Affordable Housing
Recovery Support Services
Intensive Case Management
Mental Health and Substance Abuse Resources
Supportive Services (Health Care, Legal, Insurance)
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Relapse Prevention Counseling
Employment Placement
GED Tutoring and Testing
Job training for a variety of trades
Daily Living Skills Coaching
Financial Management
Nutrition and Wellness
Anger Management
Spiritual Study, Spiritual Action, & Spiritual Disciplines
We endeavor to instill in our residents a healthy value system which includes:
* Learning responsibility to self and others
* Sensitivity to self and others
* Accountability to self and others
* How to make appropriate decisions and choices
* Self-discipline and manageability
* Community, connecting to others through the social model of recovery
A 90 to 120 day minimum requirement is necessary to successfully complete Phase I of our program. Most residents complete Phase II between six months and a year, at which time they can apply for residency at Next Step. At Next Step, our residents complete Phase III of our program at the two-year mark.
We claim spiritual progress, not spiritual perfection.
