⚠️ Content note: sexual violence and trauma
Some things are hard to name. Some things live in the body long before the words form. Maybe you feel it in the tension you carry, the exhaustion that doesn’t make sense, the way certain moments can pull you somewhere else without warning. That’s a nervous system that survived something.
Sexual trauma shows up in hypervigilance, anxiety, fatigue, chronic pain, and dissociation. It doesn’t just live in memory. Deep healing often requires more than talk and healing is possible even without speaking the words.
We work where trauma lives — in the body, in the nervous system, in the parts of you that words don’t reach yet. Through approaches like Brainspotting, IFS, and music therapy, we follow your pace, honor your agency, and let you lead.
Healing doesn’t look the same for everyone. It doesn’t happen on anyone else’s timeline. You can start at the edges and follow your own path, your own timeline.
Whenever that is, we’ll be here. scheduling@greenhouseindy.com

At Counseling at the Green House, we know that for many adoptees, the journey to self-discovery is multi-layered. 🌿
It’s common for neurodivergence to be overlooked in the adoption community, often overshadowed by trauma-informed lenses. But being neurodiversity-affirming means we see the whole person. We recognize that an Autistic brain isn’t a “broken” brain—it’s a brain that perceives, feels, and connects with the world in a unique way.
This Autism Acceptance Month, we’re celebrating the vibrant, diverse ways our clients grow. We aren’t here to “fix” your neurodivergence; we’re here to help you cultivate an environment where you can thrive exactly as you are.

This April — Child Abuse Prevention Month — Counseling at the Green House is honoring the families doing the hard work, and the communities investing in them. Families bring love, resilience, culture, and creativity to their children and communities. When systems honor and invest in that strength, families gain pathways to connection, growth, and hope. When families have what they need — food, stable housing, paid leave, healthcare, community — children are safer. The research shows this is true and we can all understand that stress erodes capacity for all of us. A 30% drop in household income increases the likelihood of abuse by 18%. That risk disappears when families have access to adequate benefits. Prevention looks like a family that isn’t in survival mode.

At Counseling at The Green House, we support parents manage stress, process traumas, and increase their capacity. We know this is some of the hardest and most important work that parents can do. We are honored to be part of it. Supporting families early keeps millions of children safe before challenges become crises and helps every child thrive where they belong.

"As a Black male therapist, I know some clients have never sat across from someone like me in this role. In training spaces, I am often the only male voice. Sometimes the only Black voice. Sometimes both.

There is pride in that.
There is weight in that.

What I am learning is simple. The room may change. The expectations may shift. The people in front of me may differ. The chair asks the same thing every time.

Show up steady.
Listen deeply.
Do the work.

Internship is teaching me that therapy is not about mastering the room. It is about holding it well."

Individual mental health cannot be separated from the health of our society. We are reminded by Dr. King that we are “caught” in this together. Healing happens in connection, not in isolation. Advocacy isn’t an “extra” part of the job—it’s a fundamental part of caring for the human spirit. What affects one of us, affects all of us.
