Hangover : Working with Couples and Addiction Through an Attachment Lens
This one-day workshop explores the significance of attachment theory when working with couples as one partner struggles with an addiction. Through role play, videos, small group exercises, and lectures, participants will learn how to discern the attachment dynamics within couples and deepen the couple’s emotional connection as a catalyst to advance couples therapy and healing.

Presenters:
Bernie Lyon, PhD, LMHC. Private Practice in Individual and Group Psychotherapy; Co-Executive Director, Indygroupwork (www.indygroupwork.com). Bernie facilitates several groups a week working with addictions as well as working with individuals. He is a certified Group Psychotherapist, Approved Clinical Supervisor, Center for Credentialing and Education, a Diplomate and Clinical Mental Health Specialist in Trauma Counseling, and is an Accredited Practitioner in Mentalization Based Psychotherapy for Personality Disorders by the British Psychoanalytic Council. Prior to his current fulltime practice Bernie was a professor at Christian Theological Seminary teaching courses in psychotherapy and supervising advanced standing internship students.
John Nolan, LCSW, CEAP. Private Practice, Indianapolis, IN; On-Site Anthem EAP Consultant for Lilly, Indianapolis, IN. John’s sees mostly couples in his private practice and utilizes on the attachment-based approach of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). He is a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist for couples and has completed the Gottman advanced training. In addition, he holds a certification from International EAPA as a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) and provided EAP services for 20 years. John was an adjunct faculty member who taught masters level mental health courses and supervised graduate students at the IU School of Social Work.
