I simply cannot stress the importance of electrolytes right now.

I do not have to tell you that people are sick. You might be sick. We are listening to celebrities, who have actually been the great disseminator of lies, in complete shock and horror as they are testing positive for this virus.

You MUST prepare your home and your body to fight. Knowledge and Preparation are powerful and if you have both, you need not be afraid.

Staying hydrated helps a person stay healthier and gives them a better chance of recovering when they do get sick. But water is not always enough. I strongly recommend having a high quality electrolyte powder in your home and, if you workout, have an active lifestyle or struggle to stay hydrated, use it on a day bases.

This is the electrolyte powder that we use in our home. We have a daughter with mitochondrial issues who uses it daily but we pull it out for anyone who is sick. This one has sugar which is important if you workout alot or are sick. There is a sugar free one, from this company, that is great to add to your drinks for every day use. Avoid electrolytes with artificial sweetners like aspartame as it is a toxic ingredient.

Please drink plenty of water but also make sure you have electrolytes on board.

(The link for this electrolyte powder is in the comments).

Merry Christmas friends.... we pray that wherever you are, you are happy and healthy and surrounded by people you love.

And if you are surrounded by those things, there's a good chance that you are also surrounded by a lot of sugar 🍰 today. I personally believe that it's good to indulge from time to time but if you are looking at all of those goodies and desperately hoping that somebody will tell you to step away, here is your post.

We know that Sugar can make kids hyper, adults gain weight, complicate some health conditions, throw diabetes out of control and can have a myriad of other not so healthy benefits. But did you also know that Sugar can temporarily lower your immune system?

Yes. Let me share that again. Sugar can temporarily lower the immune system. This is one reason why we highly recommend getting kids on a good multivitamin, vitamin C and maybe even vitamin D when they go back to school. The foods that they often gravitate to as a quick breakfast or pick me up can be full of sugar. But how often do we consider that we as adults are also lowering our own immune system and now is not the time that we want to do that. We want to be able to visit family and friends. We want to be able to get the kids back outside. We want to be able to go to the gym and be around loved ones. Stepping away from the sugar and making sure that you, as an adult, are also on a strong supplement program, will go a long way.

As you indulge in a little bit more sugar today and throughout the Christmas and holiday season, please make sure that you are increasing vitamin C, vitamin D, regularly taking a good multivitamin and adding other immune enhancing supplements while also eating one less cookie ;)

( We are always happy to share links to our favorite supplements. Just ask!!)

You may have another reason to kick that soda habit for good.

Let's talk about elderberry.

Elderberries are a plant with great medicinal benefits. Many people drink Elderberry syrup, take Elderberry supplements and consume elderberry in many other forms. In general, as a naturopathic practitioner, I have always told people that if they find benefit to taking elderberry, there seems to be great promise. In fact, there is a drink that we have in my own household that contains Elderberry along with many other vitamins such as vitamin C, quercetin, vitamin D, zinc, beta glucan and a couple of other immune-boosting ingredients. I personally have curbed illnesses drinking this and one of my teenage daughters drinks it before she is in the gym as a competitive athlete. We have stayed amazingly healthy in the last couple years.

So why on Earth would I, and many other naturopathic and holistic practitioners advise to avoid elderberry with acute illness from the C-Virus. Seems completely illogical correct?

Maybe/ Maybe Not.

Elderberries are known to help boost the immune system. There are many studies to prove this fact. I recommend looking for studies in PubMed. I believe that knowledge is power and part of that knowledge is knowing how to find the information yourself. I will never tell anybody to not research information for themselves. Whether or not you decide to take elderberry as one way to stay healthier should be based on your own ability to research what is best for yourself and your family.

The C Virus is really not like any other virus that we have ever dealt with In our Lifetime. Some question whether it is even a naturally occurring virus and I would tend to agree with them. With this in mind, it does not behave like just about any other virus we have ever encountered. Elderberry works by boosting the immune system but it also appears to increase some inflammatory markers. One of the biggest concerns with this current virus is that it causes something called a cytokine storm in some people and unfortunately that may be more than a few people. Elderberry has the ability to raise some pro-inflammatory cytokines in the body. While there are no conclusive studies to determine that elderberry is harmful with this virus, given the potential risk associated, and the many discussions that are taking place questioning elderberry with acute C virus, I would advise against using while sick.

Our family will continue to use Elderberry, as part of an overall wellness and supplement plan to stay healthy.

Many of you have followed me on my personal page for quite some time. I have not posted in here for quite a while because it was getting difficult for me to keep both Pages going. However, there is important information that people need right now to be able to get and stay healthy and I want to make sure that you have what you need.

As a Naturopathic Practitioner, our focus is on helping people get the education they need and the resources they need so that they can fuel their bodies for success. The body is a beautiful and wonderfully made creation that, if given the right things, can heal itself. With the current pandemic and the way even common illnesses are being affected, the truth is that we need to do more. An apple 🍎 a day just isn't going to cut it anymore.

I look forward to connecting with you here and to partnering in this crazy world, for wholeness and healing.

We have been busy working with many clients over the last few months and have not been posting a lot. Our commitment to moving this country from a mentality of to and continuing to fight for health freedom in our country, is stronger than ever. This publication looks like a great voice in that mission. Thought we would share it here.

Sometimes we just need to remember that we are enough. That there's nothing that we need to do better in order to be awesome. I just wanted to share this positive message from my friend today.

You Are Enough.

Where does the idea of, “you are not enough" come from? Why do we think we are not enough? We are. You are. Hear Nadine and Rachel break down this obstacle we all face in thinking we "aren't enough."

I received lots of questions about what we use for insect repellent in our home. Well I support someone's choice to use DIY options, they have not been tested to ensure but they also repel ticks and therefore I cannot recommend them. This is what we use in our home. We purchased at Costco however, it is available from other retailers.

In choosing an insect repellent, it is important to make sure that it lists ticks on the bottle. If it does not list them, then the product has not been tested and certified to do so. In our family, we also try to go as natural and safe as possible while still getting the job done.

This is the second year that we are using this one. My daughters just got home from camp and said that others were asking them to use it because the ones they were you were not working. Having used this for a couple years in our home and with the feedback we have received from our own children and their friends, I feel comfortable recommending this product to our clients. If you have a safer product that you love that has been tested and certified to also repel ticks, please feel free to post in the comments. We are all in this together.
