A lot of people call it “golfer’s elbow,” but the surprising part is this: the problem isn’t always your elbow at all. Sometimes it comes from tight wrist flexors or tension in the triceps that attach near the joint.

In today’s quick tip, I walk through two simple lacrosse-ball techniques you can use at home to calm those irritated muscles and help your elbow move the way it’s supposed to. These small changes can make a big difference in how your arm feels throughout the day.

A fundamental motion, sitting!

This is a great exercise to assist in knee and ankle stability. If you are struggling getting up from a sitting position, or getting out of bed, this is great for you!

This motion simply needs a chair or table that can help stabilize you, as you go up and down. You are going to elevate one leg to decrease your stability and challenge the body.

Repeat this 5-10 times on each leg daily to see your stability increase!

My back!!

A patient came in after sleeping in a strange position. After the the patient’s testimony and diagnostic exam, it was revealed that he developed a localized lumbar tissue strain due to exceeding the normal capacity of stretch while laying on his side. This can happen when people have older or softer beds with limited support. Photo two demonstrates one of several passive position techniques to correct the spine and hip positioning. After dry needling, soft tissue corrective techniques, spinal manipulation and exercise, patient was feeling more like himself within 1 week.

Are you dealing with sharp, shooting pains in the back or leg? We have just the exercise for you!

The McKenzie Press-Up is a great extension based exercise to help your discs back into their normal resting position

Begin in a face down position and lift the chest and stomach upwards using your arms. Make sure to not lift your pelvis!

Repeat this as often as possible, and don't be surprised if it is not the most comfortable exercise to do!

Ever get that deep, hard-to-pinpoint ache in the front of your shoulder that you just can’t press on or quite figure out? You’re not alone. A lot of people—from desk workers to active gym-goers—deal with shoulder pain caused by irritated rotator cuff muscles, especially the infraspinatus.

One simple thing you can try at home is using a lacrosse ball against a sturdy door to gently roll across those tight areas. It’s a great way to calm down irritated muscle tissue and start easing that stubborn tension.

If you’ve been rolling for a few days and the pain keeps coming back, it may be a sign that something deeper—like a movement imbalance—is still stressing the shoulder. In that case, we’re always here to help you figure out what’s really going on and get that shoulder working the way it should again.
