Did you know that today was "World Compliment Day?"

I grew up with the queen of compliments. I didn't realize that was a thing until she started visiting the cancer center for treatments (I worked there) and told the nurses immediately upon seeing them, "you look so great" ... "you look so skinny today" ... "you are the best"..."I just love you"....

It was so consistent and made the nurses feel so wonderful that they would mention it to me frequently. Growing up with my mother I didn't realize that someone pouring love and compliments wasn't "normal." It was how she treated her family but more importantly, how she saw the world and treated others.

After finding out it was world compliment day I knew that I had to honor my mom. The love that she poured onto others was always authentic and uplifting.

I hope you are able to find someone to compliment today ...and every day!

A few weeks ago we started "Sip & Support" for our caregivers.

Working from home, in somone else's home, or not having coworkers that you see on a daily basis can be tough and isolating.

Once a month we provide a safe space to gather, celebrate (or vent), and most importantly BREATHE.

It's not require and many of us left before the picture was even taken....but goodness, it was great to see some of our team members in person!

Starting the home care conversation can feel uncomfortable, but the way you approach it makes all the difference.

Begin with concern, not correction—focus on what you’ve noticed and how much you care, not what they’re doing “wrong.” Use gentle “I” statements like, “I’ve noticed you seem more tired lately, and I worry about you being alone.” This keeps the conversation from feeling like a loss of control.

Listen more than you talk and let them share their fears or resistance. Many people hear “home care” as “I’m losing independence,” so reassure them that care is about support, not taking over. Framing it as extra help—just a few hours, on a trial basis—often feels less overwhelming.

Most importantly, make it a conversation, not a decision. When loved ones feel respected and involved, they’re far more open to accepting help.

Don't forget - we are here to help too! These conversations can be tricky. You absolutely know your loved one best...but we can always give you a few individualized tips.
