INTERN SPOTLIGHT: Dr. Kenny!

Fun fact: “I love trail running, hiking, anything outdoors, and am new to rock climbing. I’m a big thrifter and am crafty here and there!”

Why PMCH: “I chose PMCH for the small intern class where faculty knows you, the flexibility to customize your experience to meet your professional goals, and the well-defined support for residents, clinically and academically. Indianapolis has always been a second home for my boyfriend and me— I could not be happier to be back in Indy with some of our family and friends and match at PMCH!”

Thanks for choosing us Emily!

INTERN SPOTLIGHT: Dr. Gemuenden!

Fun fact: “My dad used to drive my sisters and me to school on the back of the snowmobile!”

Why PMCH: “I chose Peyton Manning Children’s because it’s filled with the kind of joy, heart, and hands-on learning that makes pediatrics feel like magic. From day one, the team felt like family—and I knew it was the right place to grow into a bright, bold, deeply compassionate pediatrician.”

We love having you Maddi!

INTERN SPOTLIGHT: Dr. Nick Callas!

Fun fact: “I’ve recently gotten into DIY woodworking projects. It’s humbling in that it requires much patience and persistence when things don’t go as intended. Ironically, with all its imperfections, it brings a surprising sense of satisfaction.”

Why PMCH: “I was initially drawn to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital for its unique blend of a close-knit, rural feel, strong learning opportunities, and the chance to care for communities with limited access to healthcare. However, after the second look, the warmth and friendliness of the residents, attendings, and staff—and their confidence in the program’s preparation under Dr. Rothstein’s leadership—truly affirmed that this was the right place for me.”

We are so excited to have you Nick!

“What I will miss most about residency is my class, an incredible group of women whose strength, humor, compassion have shaped my journey more than anything else.

I also miss working alongside our amazing PD. She’s been a mentor, a friend, an incredible educator, and a constant source of support. Her fierce loyalty and unwavering belief in us created a safe space where we felt seen, valued, and pushed to grow both in and out of the hospital.”

“I’ll definitely miss the community I’ve become part of over the last 3 years. I appreciate the people that I’ve met along the way - those that have checked in on me on tough rotations, stopped me in the hallway for a quick conversation, waved at me as I entered (or exited) the hospital during early morning hours, and offered to provide guidance even beyond my monthly rotation. Big thank you to everyone who supported me along the way!”

“One thing I will miss about PMCH is the incredible faculty. One of the greatest strengths of our small community program is the fierce dedication of its faculty and their commitment to our personal and professional growth as junior clinicians. Without a doubt I would not be the physician I am today without them!”
