📣 After 38 Years, It’s Time to Say Thank You
After 38 years as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, I will be retiring tomorrow; December 30, 2025. It has been the honor of a lifetime to care for this community, to work alongside extraordinary colleagues, and to serve tens of thousands of patients who placed their trust in me. I am deeply grateful to every referring doctor and every patient who allowed me to be part of their care.
I am also incredibly thankful for the many exceptional employees I’ve worked with over the years — people who showed up every day with dedication, compassion, and professionalism. Jackie, Dianne, Cindy, Gail, Heather, Johanna, and so many others have been an important part of this journey.
A few individuals deserve special recognition:
• Sarah Leath, my very first office manager. We learned early office computer systems together—often by trial and error. She has since built her own successful company, Right Eye Consulting, and I could not be prouder of her.
• Leslie Ramsay, who helped me open my very first office and served as my surgical assistant. She has built a successful career in real estate, yet still came back from time to time to assist—always feeling like coming home.
• Nikki Murillo, a dedicated and trusted team member who worked tirelessly through the pandemic, can step into any role, and whose Spanish translation skills have been invaluable to our patients and practice.
• Jen Williams, my right hand for more than 23 years. An exceptional surgical assistant and trusted quasi–office manager, she has shared in many of my family’s happiest moments. When I told her a few years ago that I was planning to retire, she launched a passion project—Rolling Stoves—which quickly grew into a successful food truck and catering business and led to her becoming a partner in the new restaurant Latitude 39. I will miss her more than I can put into words.
And finally, my wife, Suzy — my rock and my greatest source of strength. From the very beginning, through dental school and every stage of my career, she has been my sounding board, my support system, and my steady presence. She has helped with marketing, purchasing, hiring, and countless behind-the-scenes decisions, but more importantly, she has always believed in me. Seeing her smile every morning as I head out the door has given me strength for decades. I truly could not have done this without her, and I love her more than words can say.
To everyone who has been part of this 38-year journey—thank you. I am deeply grateful for the relationships, the memories, and the privilege of serving this community.
Here’s to the next chapter, and to all of you who made this one so meaningful.
