Christian David Kaufman

Christian David Kaufman, 69, passed away doing what he loved, Sunday, July 6, 2025 in a motorcycle accident outside of Topeka, KS. He was born February 2, 1956 in Junction City, Kansas, the son of Gerald G. Kaufman and Marilyn M. Unruh. He was a 1974 graduate of Inman High School and received his bachelor's degree in structural engineering from New Orleans University.

His first job was as a journeyman plumber where he developed the skills that would serve him to later secure a position as mechanical engineer at Boeing in Wichita, where he worked for over 35 years. While there, Chris was involved in the design and delivery of the first Air Force One VC-25, the prototype development of the KC-767 Tanker, and a career-long member of the SPEEA union.

Christian enjoyed motorcycling, was an avid gun collector, and an award-winning home brewer and distiller. He was active in all of the arts as a sound and video technician for the Fox Theater in Hutchinson, the McPherson Opera House, and Bandy Sound Production. Chris also supported as sound director and judge for the Doc Sunback Film Festival.

He is survived by his daughters, Katherine and Elisabeth Kaufman (fiancé Shahab Namdar); ex-wife Sheri Kaufman-Marsh, twin brother Kent (Charlotte) Kaufman; brother Geoffrey (Kate) Kaufman; nieces and nephews Josh, Jessica, Troy, Stacy, and Alanna; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Inman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 17, 2025 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. The funeral service will be live streamed on the Inman Funeral Home page. Burial will follow at North Inman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fox Theater or the McPherson Opera House, both in care of the funeral home. Rosetta Pearl Bartels

Rosetta Pearl Bartels, 85, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born January 12, 1940, in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ralph and Anola Heusel Skinner. She lived on the Heusel homestead farm near Salf Fork River in Grant County until she was 7 years old. The farm was claimed by John Heusel, her grandfather, when the Cherokee Strip was opened for homesteading.

She moved to Blackwell, OK during her first-grade year and attended an elementary school about four blocks from her home on Blackwell Ave. She was there through her third-grade year.

The family then moved to the Dry Ridge farm near Uniontown during the summer of 1949 in Bourbon County, Kansas. She attended Dry Ridge Grade School, a one room school for fourth and fifth grades. She would ride her horse to school every day. That then consolidated with two other grade schools to form Lime Ridges for sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. She graduated from grade school in April 1954.

She then attended Uniontown Rural high school and graduated in May of 1958. She started college at Kansas State College in the fall of 1958 and graduated in May of 1962 with her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education.

She started teaching vocational home economics in Inman, Kansas in the fall of 1962 and continued teaching through the spring of 1967.

She married Robert Bartels on June 20, 1965, in Inman. They had two daughters, Rosetta Diane, born June 12, 1969, and Laura Clare, born October 25, 1980. Robert passed away on November 15, 2010.

While married, Rosetta helped found the Inman Museum, worked at the Inman Library, where she was on the library board and was an integral part of getting it moved to its current location. She was a member of the Hutchinson Kennel Club for over 20 years, the La Leche League for 50 years, and a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ.

She is survived by her two daughters, Laura Stevenson, Inman and Diane Bartels, Hutchinson and 4 grandchildren, Drake, Tristan, Honoria, and Gideon Stevenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, June 26, 2025, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 27, 2025 at North Inman Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, the Inman Museum, or the La Leche League USW, all in care of Inman Funeral Home. Barbara Maxine Stewart

Barbara M. Stewart, 90, passed away June 11, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 2, 1934, in Wichita, the daughter of Elmer and Daisy Meechum Pedigo. A graduate of a Wichita high school, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crafting.

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie (Curtis) Woods, South Hutchinson; a son, Ralph (Judy) Stewart, Arlington, KS; siblings, Donald Pedigo, Wichita and Jason Pedigo, California; 7 grandchildren, Misty Reimer, Brandie McAninch, Jason Stewart, Willie Henderson, Tara Stewart, Jeremy Stewart, and Justin Stewart; and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Stewart and 5 siblings.
