Hello Friends and Family!
August is my daughter Ella's birthday month and, instead of gifts, she asked if we could make a donation to a humanitarian aid organization that helps Palestinian children receive food, water, medical attention, etc.
That got me thinking about how we could make this bigger than just one donation. So we made a walking fundraiser called "Steps for Gaza".
We commit to walk at least 350K steps (just over 150 miles) during August and to donate to PCRF. And we're asking you all to join Ella and me by donating what you can to PCRF and to commit to your own number of steps.
How to participate:
1. Donate whatever you can to Palestine Children's Relief Fund. You can donate through the link in comments.
2. If you're able to walk, choose a reasonable number of steps for you to walk during the month of August and commit to it. (We're talking about the fundraiser a few days early, so you can consider and commit to your step count.)
3. If you pray, please pray for the people of Gaza either while you walk or at other times; if you practice metta or meditation, please direct your intentions of compassion, peace, and safety to the people Gaza.
4. Optional: Join my Patreon (link in comments) as a free member where I'll have a community chat devoted to our fundraiser. We can share our daily step count via screenshots or photos, and connect with one another as we focus on Gaza.
Why we chose PCRF
Ella and I considered several worthy organizations and we chose the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund. Here are a few reasons we chose PCRF:
1. They're helping children and families in Gaza receive food, water, baby formula, medical care, and more.
2. They have many partners including the World Central Kitchen, UNWRA, Samaritan's Purse, and St. Jude's Research Hospital.
3. They have a four-star rating from Charity Navigator for accountability & finance for twelve straight years. (Only 3% of charities receive this rating.)
Please check out the work PCRF is doing at their Instagram
Thanks so much for giving what you can to help the children and families of Gaza.
With love and gratitude,
Kim & Ellac
