The MLD Institute Int’l was inspired by the “Pioneer of Lymphedema Treatment,” Dr. Robert Lerner who in the mid 1980’s introduced the European modality he learned to the U.S in his MLD Specialty Clinics. Elisa DiFalco, M.S., OT., LMT, CMLDT worked for the Founder as an MLD Specialist and instructor for Dr. Lerner’s Academy offering therapists and physicians a first look at operating a MLD Specialty Clinic with physician diagnosis, treatment, research and continuing education.
Elisa became the Clinic Director and Owner of LTS Clinic as it grew into its new headquarters in Lauderhill, FL and continued the legacy of patient and professional education through the MLD Institute and expanded the borders of MLD therapy, that until that time ,was focused on lymphedema. But, she knew MLD was utilized in Europe for children and adults suffering with autoimmune conditions for nearly a century and worked with European doctors with knowledge of the MLD protocols living in Florida and created some of America’s first MLD specialty courses. Widely received, the MLD Institute Int’l was joined by an international board of doctors expanding, researching and creating the courses for the next generation.
After performing nearly 100 physician and insurance in-services, collaborating with authorities on medicare fraud and human trafficking and working with university advisory boards, The MLD Institute invited state professional boards to offer their expertise to ensure courses were in scope of practice--safe for the public and the practitioner.
Today, the MLD Institute Int’l is on campuses where healthcare professionals can receive MLD Institute Int’l Certification. And, courses are also offered in continuing education format delivered by experienced practitioners with, dual licenses and degrees and bi-ligual with over 50 years combined experience.
