I might be Scarfing down food while wearing clothes that were in a bag to take to donation, because my client went into labor 2+ weeks early while I was out with the family 😅 I might have also had to be dropped off by my husband since we were nowhere near home(my car )and now I’m trying to figure out how to get back home later.
I should have know with the laws of labor this would happen😅 BUT I made it on time and am here to support them ❤️❤️

So here’s to being a doula and knowing that the best plan is to take your plan and throw it out the window 😅

Another amazing birth in the books for 2022🙌 I am yet again so inspired and amazed by how powerful a woman’s body is😍 this mamma labored, birthed AND recovered the way she wanted and was in complete control! So honored to be able to be present in bringing her baby earth side !

Arrived at the hospital at 945pm, water broke at 1055, baby born at 1236😲🎉🎉 when I say this momma did an amazing job I’m not kidding!! Both mom and baby are doing great❤️ little girl definitely made an entrance!
2 1/2 years ago I was at this same hospital with this same client helping this little baby’s brother be born🥰 its such an honor to be asked to support a family through pregnancy and labor for a second time ❤️❤️ thank you for trusting me to be in your space and to be apart of such an amazing moment. Congratulations to your beautiful little family you did amazing💪💪

What fills my love tank? Having a client from over 2 years ago call me and ask me to be her birth Doula again! This mama did incredible once again and nothing phased her! The  main difference between her last pregnancy and this one? This little boy was 9lbs 4oz!!❤️❤️  such a beautiful family and I am so thankful and blessed to have been able to be apart of this pregnancy once again.

Wow what a day! I just worked two nights at the hospital, went home slept two hours then jumped up to meet my client who was in labor🤰🏻🙌🏻 after only 5 hours she had the birth she dreamt of and was holding her little girl❤️❤️ once again she showed me how amazing and strong the female body is 💪💪
 thank you for the reminder of why I’m becoming a midwife😍😍

Yes🙌🏻🙌🏻 don’t let the number scare you into thinking your body isn’t doing what its supposed to

Here’s your daily PSA!

Dilation does not predict when you will go into labor!

Your cervix is not a crystal ball; you could be 1cm and go into labor that day or 5cm and go into labor in a few weeks.

Effacement *may* be more of a predictor of labor onset, but not necessarily either!

So, if you are getting cervical checks during pregnancy and your provider states you haven’t made change between your appointments, and states that you should get an induction bc you’re never going to go into labor. Nod your head and say “cool, I’m not in labor, so I don’t expect to make any cervical change. Also, dilation does not predict labor onset.”

Moral of this story? Your dilation during pregnancy does not predict when you’ll go into labor.
