Nothing says "We โค๏ธ You" like "made with Love" chocolate chip cookies๐Ÿช. We tried to surprise Ranger Tom and Lance with just that but they were ready to share a little ๐Ÿ’š right back with us! Thank you Lance ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ for the decadent dark chocolate chip cookies. And thanks Sandy Jacobowitz Wait for making ours.
We helped out painting Forest Road signs and showed a definite prowess in modeling those FR numbers like maybe we've done it before... ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜†

Florida Administrative Code 5I-4.002(16) - Horse Trail: A designated trail on which only horse traffic is allowed.

Florida Forever B*H worked in concert with the Florida Forest Service to develop Florida's first regulatory equestrian trail sign! This sign will replace "Road Closed" signage on horse trails - because it's not a road, it's a horse trail. The FAC reference on the sign makes the sign "regulatory" in nature so that Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers and Forest Service staff are authorized to enforce the code which clearly states horses (and mules) have exclusive use of designated horse trails. Signs should be placed where horse trails meet roadways or other trails, especially in locations where there may be user conflicts, to notify other users "Horses Only" on this trail. This is a statewide initiative of the Florida Forest Service to provide a safer environment for our equestrian community. Let's be grateful! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Thank you, Bin Wan, Florida Forest Service State Recreation Coordinator for your continued engagement and support of our equestrian community. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ‡

If you'd like to help us install the signs, please join your local Back Country Horsemen group. We need your help!

These sign will not be used in Florida State Parks or Greenways and Trails as those organizations operate under different rules and regulations.

Florida Forever B*H was invited to represent our equestrian community with a presentation to the Florida Greenways & Trails Foundation board of directors last week. We were supported by Ed OConnor of Cross Florida Greenway Equestrians - CFGE and Karen Pando of Back Country Horsemen of Southeast Ocala Forest. We talked about ways equestrians and FGTF could expand our reach and strengthen our alliances. Advocating for and educating about the needs of equestrians is part of Florida Forever B*H's mission. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡

Help protect your equestrian trails and your right to ride.

Back Country Horsemen is an equestrian volunteer service organization that works to ensure public lands remain open to recreational equestrian use. From hands on trail maintenance activities to educating and advocating for the responsible use of horses on our public lands, B*H works to ensure America's backcountry can be enjoyed on horseback for generations to come.
If you'd like to help us in our efforts in Florida, please contact one of the four B*H chapters and join today!

The annual meeting for all four chapters is October 18th at Tillis Hill Equestrian Campgrounds, Withlacoochee State Forest in Inverness. Camping and horse stalls are available thru Reserve America. You must be a current member of a Florida B*H chapter to attend the meeting but everyone is welcome to come camp and ride for the weekend.

Please become a member and share your strengths and talents with our equestrian community. We need everyone's help.

When it's too hot to saddle up, you can still spend quality time with your partner getting grounded. Groundwork at any age or time is a great way to connect, communicate and build confidence by growing your collaborative relationship. Thank you Michael Canfield of Lucky Star Horsemanship (a new member of our equestrian community in Florida), D&D Ranch and Ocala Horse Club for hosting this interesting and informative clinic. We can't wait to try out what we learned! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿด

Mosquito-borne diseases for humans or our animal partners are serious business. ๐ŸฆŸ Florida mosquitos can transmit several diseases, including West Nile virus, St. Louis Encephalitis, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, dengue fever, malaria, yellow fever and heartworm.

A simple way of reducing mosquitoes is to limit their access to standing water, which is where they breed. Florida Forever B*H, in partnership with Florida Forest Service Ranger Tom Moody, recently stocked the water tanks on the Withlacoochee State Forest Citrus Tract with mosquito control minnows. ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ We want you and yours to be safe and well.

Learn what you can do to help eliminate mosquitos around your home, ranch or stables:

You can get mosquito control minnows in Citrus County from the county mosquito control district. Mr. Ed (no relation to the talking horse ๐Ÿด) supplied us with an excellent education as well as the minnows.

If you'd like to help out on our public lands - please join your local Back Country Horsemen chapter or join us! We'd be glad to have ya! ๐ŸคŽ๐Ÿ‡
