City of Inwood

City of Inwood Inwood is a friendly community with the quaintness of small town living. Welcome to the city of friendly people! Inwood Iowa is located in western Lyon County.

Inwood is a community with the quaint beauty of small town living, just minutes away from large entertainment venues and big city shopping. This small town at the crossing of Highway 182 and Highway 18 features many businesses, including a bank, clinic and nursing care facility, restaurant and the Horizons Development Organization. The City Government is led by Mayor Gerald Brands and City Council members- Kyle Knobloch, Mark Timmerman, Becca Bixler, Chad Evans and Rick Rozeboom. Carol Vander Kolk serves as City Clerk. Natalie Bohlke is an office assistant to the City Clerk and Administrator of the Inwood Aquatic Center.

Faces of Inwood: meet Blake & Carissa!
We moved to Inwood from Sioux Falls 8 years ago to raise our family in a smaller community. We love the small town atmosphere and friendly people who are willing to help each other in times of need.
Let’s celebrate the amazing people who make our city so special!

Faces of Inwood: meet Danny and Alisha!
Danny has lived in Inwood since 2007. I have lived here since 2020. There’s something special about small towns, and Inwood, captures everything I love about them. We also love our church family at First Reformed. It’s not a big place, but it has a big heart. It’s home in every sense of the word.
Let’s celebrate the amazing people who make our city so special!

Pet Waste Reminder for Dog Walkers - We've been getting more reports of pet waste left on sidewalks of main street by businesses as well as in various other areas throughout town.

The City of Inwood reminds residents that when walking dogs, pet owners are responsible for picking up pet waste. Leaving waste behind may be considered defilement of public or private property under Title III, Chapter 3, Article 10, Section 10.11(3) of the Inwood City Code.

Violations of city ordinances are subject to the general penalty provisions of the code (Title I, Chapter 1, Section 1.06), which may include fines.

Please carry waste bags and dispose of pet waste properly. Thank you for helping keep Inwood clean and welcoming for everyone!

Inwood Fire Dept Grant Announcement:

We’re proud to share that the Inwood Fire and Rescue Inwood IA has been awarded a 2025 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant through the Iowa DNR. The grants offer valuable funding assistance for wildfire suppression, personal protective and communications equipment. This essential equipment will help better protect our community and surrounding rural areas.

We are grateful to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa DNR Forestry, and the U.S. Forest Service for investing in rural fire departments across the state. Most importantly, we thank our local firefighters for their continued dedication, service, and commitment to keeping Inwood safe.
