The Mustangs move to 8-0 with two wins over league opponent Santa Fe Trail.
Another great pitching performance in game 1 by senior Grady Doughterty. Dougherty went 5 innings, 0 runs, 4 hits, and 8 strikeouts. The defense behind him was solid and continued to make plays. He also went 2-4 at the plate with two home runs, and got the scoring started in the bottom of the 1st with a two run shot to left. He drove in 3 runs in game 1. Easton Weseloh, Kale Pratt, and Reed Clift also had two hits apiece. Pratt drove in two runs. Easton Weseloh came in and threw the last 2 innings giving up 0 hits and striking out 3 to close it out for the Mustangs!
Senior Gavin Jones started game 2 on the mound and went 3.2 innings striking out 4. He passed the ball off to Jase Herrmann who went .1 innings before passing it back off to Weseloh for 2 innings to close out game 2, giving up 1 hit and striking out 4. Junior Tre Wilson led the game 2 offensive efforts going 3-4 with two home runs, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Nick Bauer added 3 hits and scored 3 while driving in 2 and playing great defense at shortstop. Sophomores Jase Herrmann and Kale Pratt each had two hits apiece. Senior Shaun McLaughlin had a pinch hit single that drove in two runs late!
The Mustangs will host Anderson County in another key league matchup on Tuesday (4/15) at Riverside Park. First pitch set for 4:30!
